I am replacing a tail panel (including rear light cut outs) . I have replaced the complete trunk pan and will be replacing the quarters. I am having trouble figuring out the depth the tail panel should set in relation to the tail light housings. I know that a upper and lower tail molding goes on the tail panel but with should these moldings be even with the bezels on the tail lights or recessed. The old tail panel had some damage so it was not straight and unreliable.
I think if someone could post a close up pic of their taill panel and light assemblies it would help or maybe even measurements. All the rear pics I've found have been too far away to determine anything.
Thanks in advance,
James

Nice pics thanks.I'm gonna compare yourpanel to what I've got. I guess I used the wrong terminology. I'm trying to make sure that when I install the tail lights (parts with lens in them) that I'm not too far back or in. I know I can somewhat align it to the trunklid but at this moment I have some bars welded to keep the quarters from flexing in or out so I cant install the trunk lid correctly to check. When I first installed the tail panel I had 1 inch between the tail panel and lens assembly-I could slid my finger around and behind the lens assembly. It was a fit issue and I got that better but it made me realize that I didnt know how far in and out the panel needed to be to line up with the lens assemblys. It would be bad news if I got everything done and found out my tail panel had to be relocate. Probably would make me start speaking in my second language-ghettoswear.
Thanks again
James

Can someone take a close pic of the tail panel with the tail light lens assy so I can see how far "in" the tail panel is in relation the lens assembly.
Thanks

Jim. If I remember correctly, It aligns evenly with the tail light assembly and the trunk lid. Not the bezel.
Heres some pix of mine as I replaced the panel. Click here!!! (http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/cc210/furball8994/THE%20BODY/?start=120) I left the old supports in place until I got the panel aligned, Then I replaced the supports.
