I am about to buy a rear sway bar from year one and I don't know anything about them. Was it a option, SS only, Malibu only, or was it just there? I might be putting one in my 67 Malibu 396/TH-400/12 bolt setup and I know my 67 true SS doesn't have one. None of my books tell me about it, can anybody tell me about them and what the factory put them in?
thanks alot TEAM CHEVELLE

Wes,
Save yourself some money, as the F41 7/8" rear sway bar is still available new from GM from www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) for about $65 delivered to your doorstep.

you need the lower control arms to be boxed to use the orginal f41 style sway bar... OPG makes a insert kit that you weld in or you can buy already made orginal boxed lower control arms or aftermarket ones .. my point is you need more then just the swaybar ...its the cheap part in this upgrade :D don't let the price scare you away from this Mod.. I think its one of the best changes you can add to the car graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The reg arms are open on the bottom, "U" shape.
When boxed it's closed 4 sides and will not let the arm twist. If you install a anti sway bar and don't box the arms and install new bushings, You want know the bar is there. Will look good though. 7/8" on rear, Then you will need a 1 1/4 for the front. Go to the salvage yard and get a Z-28 or Trans-Am for about $10-15 and to the parts store for all new bushings and ends.
When the front of the car dives in a turn, The rear bar will not help as much as the 1 1/4 frnt bar.
