Can someone tell me the sequence of installing the front end on a 66 chevelle? Do I put the radiator support on first. Do Install the inner fender on the fender or put on the fender on first then the inner fender. Thanks ,I would like to do it this week end.

I'm sure you'll get a response form someone more knowledgable than me, as I've only taken mine apart. I haven't gotten to reassembly yet. But since it's been over an hour and you don't have anything better yet...

I would put the radiator support on first, then install the inner fenders into the fenders. Lastly install the inner/outer fender combos on the car.

I would do the core support first, then the fenders then add the inners.

I installed the core support first, leaving the bolts snug, not tight.
Then came the cowl panel, followed by the fenders, then the inner fenders. I then squared the fenders up and actually had to shift the core support to the driver's side almost 3/8". Haven't fit the hood yet so I haven't mounted the core support solid yet. I'm going to have to get creative when I do, since the bushings have a metal sleeve which restricts movement.

1. Core support
2. Fenders
3. Inner Fenders
4. Bumper filler panel
5. Grille & trim
6. Bumper & brackets
7. Hood

Make sure you tape all painted edges. It will save the paint from being damaged while assembling

put the A arm rubbers on before you hang the fenders. the flat rubber that is stapled to the inner fender.

Can't say that too often. If you're going for originality, you'll have to sift through a few vendors to get the right parts. I found "repops" have the correct a-arm seals, nobody makes the correct inner fender to frame seals and I couldn't find any staples that were exact, so I make my own. Took a long ars time but it sure looks authentic. Now I focus on those things at shows and you'd be amazed at how many "concours" cars have the wrong staples and are perfectly spaced. :noway:

Thanks men... But I was told it would be easier to install the inner fenders on the fenders then install the fender, What I read here is not to do that way??????

That's what I heard earlier too, but I seem to have been outvoted here. I hope you post back here after you're done with this to let us know how it worked out. I had thought I knew how to do this... now I'm not so sure any more.

I concidered installing the inners to the fenders first and looked through the AIM to see if this is how the factory did it. Wasn't conclusive either way so I did it the way I knew how. I don't see why it wouldn't work. For me it was easier to handle each piece seperately, allowing extra care to painted surfaces.
