I've hunted deer for 30+ years, but never hunted for water fowl... my sons want to start going goose hunting this year... my question is, how do you gut out a goose?? whats the easiest way to clean the feathers off?? Thanks. Jeff

Hunted waterfowl for many years (not as of lately though). I usually just breast them out. No gutting, just pull the skin back from the breast and trim the breast meat off. Plucking is to much of a PIA in my opinion. I just toss the carcasses down in the woods and let the foxes have at em. Goose meat is good if its is rare to medium rare. If you over cook it, its tougher than shoe leather.

Spot on! I am a die hard waterfowler. I breast all my ducks and geese, just not enough meat anywhere else to make it worth it.
We cook with duck alot at home, geese I usually make into jerky in the dehydrator. Yummy!

My son and me usally just breast them out also. For the ducks, like the good one Mallards, we will pluck them. What we do when we pluck them is to add wax to the water, and then scald them, and put them in cold water till the wax is good and hard, and they peel like a orange. Also they do not smell as bad as just plaine water. Wax has gotten so expenceive, and hard to find. I also like to skin the geese, if you want a full bird, nice to see what is under the skin, before I eat it. Like the one post said, don't over cook, or it will be dry and tuff.
