When I had my little distributor mishap at the track and Darryl and Martin tried doing my timing and it was all over the place and I kind of wondered why, but let it be and thought my day was over anyway.
Today I decide to take a look inside the cap adapt and found that the 2 screws that hold the rotor in place were not tight at all. Matter of fact, 1 was not in at all and the other was half way out. I would imagine the time had to be all over the place and most likely was a factor in why I could get any better than and 9.25 with even a 180 shot. My best N/A was a 9.38 I think, so picking up .13 should of been done easily with the 100 shot.
I have my new shocks and springs coming in on Friday and want to try it out on the track, just won't be this weekend.

Is ur converter a good converter to use with nitrous? Could be a reason why it isnt picking up as much on the juice as you would think.

Typically an all out say 8" loose converter wont gain anywhere near a tight 9" converter will. Just a thought.

Last time I sent the converter in to Coan I was advised to start looking at a new one because this one had been sent in numerous times to be freshened up and he told me that it was at the end of it's life. Might look at a 9" over winter to support nitrous. Just thought I could pickup more that a tick of a tenth but could be one of several factors.

Jim, obviously you are pushing way more power than me, but I'm running a $199 Jegs (not for nitrous or big block use) 10" converter...
My 125shot is picking up .86 and 7mph.

I know as you get faster it takes more nitrous to get the same gain, but I was expecting you to pick up at least .40 on your 180 shot.

I'm sure Darryl or Roger will chime in with a more educated projection.

Hope it all comes together for you next time out.

Just curious Jim, what header sizes(pri/collector) are you running on ur 496, and what is your trap rpm?

2 1/4 headers and with nitrous trap was 7450, with out nitrous 7250

Wow, just a thought with ur head size and header primary size and cubic inch. I am pretty sure ur max power is around 8500.

Naw, I have always built grunt engines. This one is no different. Makes goobs of torque that falls off after 4,500 and rpm pickups after that. If I remember right, max hp was near 6,500 and falls off after that. My heads are OK but are a limiting factor. Could use some good aluminum heads but won't happen in the near future.
