I've got a couple of vehicles that are old enough they occasionally have issues.

Worst are the intermittent issues that drive the service shop mad.

I'm trying to find a code reader / scanner that I can use to monitor the vehicle's
stats while I'm driving, that has a memory so I can look at the data later,
and can decode/clear trouble codes.

It looks like there are plenty to pick from, but I don't want a piece of junk.

I'm open to the all-in-one handheld unit, or a module that plugs into a PC.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Dwebb,
I just picked up an OTC Genisys EVO with the ignition scope module, ABS/Airbag module and the Import module. After using it for a couple of months I can definitely say that it is AWESOME!!!
After comparing all the different units available I bought the Genisys EVO because it was the best value, but after using it, I have found that it has MUCH greater functionality than is described in the literature. I am very happy with it.

If you're looking for just a cheapy OBD 2 reader....go on Amazon and do a search. I picked an Actron brand reader for @ $80.00 not too long ago. It does the basic stuff like read and clear codes and will let you know if you're emission system is in the "ready" state. You'll have to shell out quite a bit more if you're looking for data logging equipment.

Do a search for OBD 2 data logging....there's lots of software and tuners out there who have the stuff you need.
