Guy says those dimples are factory and that there are holes for brackets he is not using. Tell me, is that factory? or did a shotgun go off in there?

There are a bunch of dimples in my '66 firewall. I was wondering about those.
I figured to hit them with body filler.

I'm sorry Andrew.....I cant say everyone of the divots in that picture is factory......but yes the firewalls on 67's do come from the factory looking like they were shot with a shot gun. I have also heard it was to identify some optional items mounting points an to add strength.

I would stay away from a car that when some spray paint the firewall they paint everything black i mean the wiring. i bet that car has some hidden problems

I think all those dimples are for other GM A body cars for different holes needed for other things not used for all cars. its the same firewall for a lot of other cars

Breeze through the assembly manual for any of these cars and you'll see lots of "drill a x/xx inch hole at dimple" for attaching any number of optional pieces of equipment.

also, a friend of mine and I found a crapped out '68 camaro that was an A/C car so we made up this big elaborate template off of it so that we could cut his car up for factory appearing A/C. When we go home to execute the plan, we found that they all lined up with an existing dimple.
