Hey guys, I have a stock power brake booster that was given to me by a buddy who's had it forever.

Anyway, I would like to use it but wanna test is it is good before buying a "power master" cylinder and going through the trouble of the install.

My '70 Elco is currently a 4 wheel manual drum car being converted to front discs, but I am still debating with myself over going to power brakes.

So, is there a way to test the power brake booster without installing it?

Thanks guys.

Maybe use one of those hand held vacuum pumps on it and see if it holds a vacuum?
That's the only thing I can think of.

Hook up a vacuum port to your motor, and then to the booster.

Start your car.

While running (and most likely holding the booster in your hand) remove the vacuum hose from the booster. If you hear a "whoosh" of air, then the unit works.
