: lift bars vs no hop bars??
bri2203 Nov 29th, 04, 3:36 AM I am sold on buying a set of SSM jeg Lift bars. Can i use them even tho i am lowering it 2 inches? Do lift bars lift the vehicle? How are they different from no hop bars? I hear the SSM bars are better but why?
sorry to make so many threads.. I've used the search fuction but this wasn't answered.
cmt454 Nov 29th, 04, 5:19 PM The SSM lift bars dont actually "lift" the car. What they do is help the chassis and rear end "separate" forcing the the tires into the ground. When a car "squats" when it launches, it is actually the body pulling the tires up into the body. This is the way I understand it. I dont have any idea what the effect of lowering your vehicle will have if you install the bars. I dont have no hop bars, cant comment on them.

Bob West Nov 30th, 04, 8:01 AM Lower the car first, then install the lift bars and you should be fine.
gUmBaLL68Malibu Nov 30th, 04, 3:18 PM Bars don't hang to low shouldn't be an issue with lowering.
Derek69SS Nov 30th, 04, 8:47 PM Lower it first. You need to set up the pinion angle, and if you lower it after installing the bars, the angle will need to be set up again.
bri2203 Nov 30th, 04, 11:47 PM woah.... set up the pinion angle? do i need upper adjustable arms to do this? do i need my stock arms for this? I am confused now
TonawandaKid Dec 2nd, 04, 5:11 AM You do need adjustable uppers to move the pinion angle around.

-Steve ..you can set the pinion angle with the lift bars (SSM's or Jegs, etc)
Derek69SS Dec 2nd, 04, 8:47 PM Chris is right. The pinion angle can be adjusted with SSM lowers. Stock uppers will work, adjustables are not necessary.
Can anyone post a picture of these lift or anti hop bars so I can picture what you are talking about. Also I saw a set of forged adapters that raised the upper bars at the rear end? What was the purpse of these bars ??
mr 4 speed Dec 3rd, 04, 8:08 AM The lift bars look almost like a stock, boxed control arm,but beefier. And they have a bracket that allows them to sit a little lower than stock, and using that bracket allows you to adjust your pinion angle.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you trying to accomplish? Eliminate wheelhop? increased traction? etc.
