I have a 67 chevelle, with a locked glove box. Problem is I don't have the key and the lock is broken to the point that NO key will fit in the key hole.

I tried to search the forums, but all I found was how to remove the lock if you already got it open!!!

Any suggestions or ideas.
I appreciate any input thank you!

I don't know if this applies for 67 models:

Turn Knob Type used on 69 and later models
( No key is required to dismantle the Lock )

Use Vise Grips or Channel Locks and Rotate Chrome Ring Counter Clock wise to Remove it.

Use screw driver and small hammer and tap surface of Cylinder Nut Counter clockwise until it is free from Lock Cylinder.

Grip face of Key Cylinder with Channel pliers - Ensuring you hold the Latch in Closed position - and turn the key cylinder clockwise. The cylinder should fall out of the Lock Cylinder.

I know as you say the Glove Box door is Closed. You will probably will have to remove the Glove Box container and perform some sort of extortionists act to accomplish the above.

Forget that: Try a Lock Smith ;o)

Can you "credit card" it open? Slip a credit card in the slot above the lock and try to get the latch down.

try a thin blade screw driver to back the nut off that retains the latch mechanism. lock cylinder should come out with that nut removed...

its been a while since I looked at mine but if I remember correctly you can just remove the four small screws at the bottom that holds the door hinge to the dash and the glove box door should slide out.

Thanks everyone for quick answers and ideas. I ended up literally tearing up the key slot with a screwdriver trying to unlock it. And then hammered the button and the glove box opened.

Well I'm going to throw in my impatient way and this is not recommended and please dont laugh at me when i say just pry the bad boy open if worst comes to worst. That or burn the head of the lock off and then mess with it afterward.

PLEASE DONT LAUGH THIS WAS JUST AN IDEA FOR A LOAST RESORT. LOL
