Hello all,:)
I'm working on my '71 Camino again getting everything ready for putting all the new interior back in...
The Head liner had been out for some 19 years, I now have the new Head Liner ready to go in but do not remember what holes were used for the Bows, there are three holes in a triangle for the Bows on each side of the inner roof where the bows fit in... :o
The complete inside of the my Camino has been re-coated so you cannot tell what holes were used anymore...

Plus there are three bows and they appear to be all the same size/length, is this the case on the bows...

Much Thank's for any insight on my lack of memory...

They are in the forward single hole in my '69.
Wonder what the other holes are for??
I'm pretty sure the rods are all interchangeable.

Thanks Dan,

I would think '68-to-'72 would all be set up the same for the Camino...

If I can get the free time this weekend I will see how that works out...:beers:

OK, New question for the Elcamino Head liner Guy's...:)

I now have all parts ready to install my new head liner in my '71 camino...

The three bows for my head liner do not have both ends the same...

One end is a little shorter than the other end and the other end that
is a little longer has a different angle than the shorter end...

Question (1) Does it matter what end goes into the left or right...

Question (2) What end is to be installed first,
the short end or the longer end...

Thanks for any info...

I believe one end is shorter, so it is easier to get it in the hole, once the other end is in. I'd put the long end in 1st, then the shorter end. I don't think it matters which side is which.

Thanks Bill,

I hope to see my new Head Liner in before the week end is over...

I will be putting the new Sound Deadener in the roof tomorrow and then will be ready to tackle the Head Liner...

Will let you know how that works out...

What are you using for sound deadening? I just pulled the headliner down from my 1969 Malibu and was greeting with a rusty, filthy disintegrating mess!!

I'm still in the process of wire brushing the rusty surfaces, then I'll be painting the area with POR-15. I'm also going to POR the support wires. When that is done, I'll need to come up with something that will stick without problems to the vast expanse of coated sheet metal.
I'm ready for any proven ideas...

Dan,
I picked up my Headliner Insulation kit from "OPG" fits from '64-'77 it was less than $15.00 when I bought it...

What I did after I had all the Interior and Dash out was scrap out the old Head liner sound deadener from the roof...

To me using a wire brush looked like way to much work so I used one of those hand held Sand Blasting guns from Harbor Fright and used Baking Soda to blast off the hole inside of my camino, If you use Baking Soda do it out side not in your Garage because it makes a very big mess that is very easy to clean up with and air hose from the inside of your car, Its a lot better than using Sand...
Then I wiped down the hole inside and repainted the hole inside of my camino with ZOLATONE primer and there top coat...

This is the color I used on the inside of my Interoir body: http://www.zolatoneaim.com/images/20-72SilverGray.jpg

And this is what I have as a bed liner in my Chevy Truck: http://www.zolatoneaim.com/images/20-78DarkRed.jpg

There paint is the best I have found for redoing the inside of a car body, trunks and to use as a bed liner in Trucks, I have been using there product now for about 20 years or so...

I have had it in the bed of my pick up for about 9 years and it still looks as good as it did when I first sprayed it...

I also used it on my fire wall, wheel wells and the bed of my camino and top coated the color with there Epoxy clear coat, that brake fluid will not effect...

One tip to spraying there product is you will need and old gun and you will have to drill out the tip to 1/16 or even a little bigger so you will be able to get the same effect of pattern of the product as in there color chart, Also you cannot shake it :noway:at all, It has to be mixed very very slowly with a paint stick because it has more than one color in it...

There top coat comes in about 20 colors here is a link to them if you want to see about there paint & a link to there color chart:
