No, it's not a 4 cylinder car, the VIN would be 11127 for that. It's a V8, but.....

From what I can find, the Nova was built at the Willow Run MI. plant exclusively. There were 251xxx '69 Novas built, so it is feasable that this VIN matches this cowl tag. Watcha gettin at, Brad????? :D

And upon closer examination, the rivets in the VIN tag MAY be installed from the bottom and we are seeing the "upset" end of the rivet, and the other end may have the rosettes after all...... so I ask again, whatcha gettin at, Brad????

Yes the rivets went in from the bottom because the ws was installed before the body came over to the final line. Here is instruction sheet )70 Chevelle) showing how to install them and it from below the dash.

If that is the stamp, it's on a 10 bolt from a 74-75....JA is 2.73 non posi, G is for Detroit Gear and Axle, 204 is the 204th day of 74.... 4 is 1974.

The Factory Assembly Manual wasn't always followed. I've found three different ways that appear to be legitimate.

Baltimore - rosettes up:

Flint - rosettes down:

And of course Van Nuys with one each way (why does this not surprise me :D):

KC - rosettes down (1971):

Brad, so does the car have a 12 bolt in it or not? Axle code does not support that.

Did they see the 11427 and think it was a 427 car?

Everything on the tag was already decoded other than the R and the 3. These are Fisher Body codes and nobody seems to know what they mean.

Thats what they thought and I just wanted to make sure before I pop their bubble, LOL
The guy was trying to say it was a 427 car. I just kept my mouth shout and walked away.
