Hey guys,
My car twists at the drag strip and stuff seems to be loosening off..

On Sunday, some upper control arm alignment shims fell out. Can I simply replace the shims??

If you know which shims cam from which locations, sure. If you're not sure of that it's back to the alignment shop.

Yes they only fell off on one bolt, There is about a 3/4 gap there. I might try to put some locking nuts to brace it more...

Now see? If only you had a Chevelle all your problems would be solved! :-)

So how will you solve the problem though? Lock tight and nylon locking fasteners might help. Actually go with an all metal lock nut with a prevailing torque thread. Then just torque em down really good!

as long as you didn't move the nut after you found out that the shims fell out, there is no reason why you couldn't just put enough shims back in there to make it snug and then tighten it down nice and tight. this will put your alignment right where it was before, with no need for another alignment.

Excellent point.

And the bolt should already have a lock nut on it. If it has a regular nut, you need to swap it out for a lock nut.

Hey thanks guys,
I am not too sure that the actual alignment changed. I did a few passes after and I did not notice a difference but Sat will be 1/4 passes instead of the typical 1/8.

With the whole body/frame twisting (for a whole season) I think this perhaps made the shims to fall out, the actual adjusting nut does not to appear to have moved. My exhaust to collector bolts decided to fall out to kinda screwed me up for elims...

I went to a shop and got some shims, but I may have to create a half moon washer to snug it good. Then use stover lock nuts in addition to to standard (perhaps non locking) to secure the nuts..
