A good buddy of mine bought a new Camaro SS. He drove it over so I could take a look. It had about 250 miles on it and he tosses me the key so I don't think twice about driving his new rig.
I have to say I was mightily impressed. I've never sat in a new and entirely unfamiliar car and yet have it feel so familiar. Driving the car felt like I'd been driving it all my life. Very unusual but very pleasant at the same time.
You've read that these cars are powerful and handle great, absolutely correct. What struck me more strongly though was how exceptionally solid the car is, how well built it looks, feels and sounds. My buddy will be driving this daily, good weather and bad. He drives it HARD. It'll be interesting to check back in 20,000 miles to see how it's holding up. I'm thinking it will be holding up quite well.
General Motors is truly making great cars again if the Camaro is anything to go by. The used 2007 Malibu my folks bought recently didn't impress me in the same ways of course when it comes to performance, but it too was a solid little car.
I've never been in love with the look of the new Camaro, but I do have to say they look better in person than in pictures. But I can also say that if I was in the market for a new car and it was within my shopping budget I don't think there'd be more than one choice for me, Camaro all the way.
