my painter suggested i paint my dash satin black on my 68 to reduce glare, my interior is black but im going with the L code teal metalic on the lower dash area(glovebox and surround. so ill have black instrament panel and dash pad but he said go black on the window side of dash pad to reduce glare, allthough it was originally teal metallic . what do you guys say to this? thanks!

I would definitely suggest using a matt clear on the top of the dash no matter what color it will be. If the dash is going to be Teal, my suggestion is to paint all the dash Teal and Matt the top only. I think that would look better than Teal on the bottom and matt black on the top. (JMO)
I matted the top of my dash and I do not have the dash pad to split the gloss and matt finish, I broke the two different gloss levels at the dash body line. I also think the contrast between the top and bottom looks better. Here is a couple pictures, not the same year but the same concept. I believe the Teal metallic will look nice matted.

hey thanks for the input, great pics and advice, did you paint all and just matte clear the top section and gloss the lower?

Based and cleared the entire dash. Came back and sanded the top with 1000 grit, masked the bottom and re-cleared the top with matt clear. :)
