I was wondering what kinds of paint guns people are using for refinishing? I have been using an Iwata LPH-400 with a 1.3 tip for clear coats and 1.4 on most base coats. I have grown to love it even though you have to move a little slower than some of the SATA guns. Lets here what other people are using and what are you likes and dislikes about it. Thanks

This isn't exactly what your looking for, but I'll throw this in.
I use the old binks #7 siphon type gun for PPG DP Epoxy, and Z-CHROME sprayable body filler.
Air nozzle #36SD
Fluid, Medium #36
I use this setup to spray both of these products, and don't thin either one, mix it exactly like the technical sheet says, make sure your paint room or booth is plenty warm.
The epoxy will lay on there really nice, and I don't do much painting, actually very little and even I can do it.

I work at a collision/resto shop.I use a sata 3000rp with a 1.4 for clear. It has great speed, beautiful atomization, large fan and lays down a smooth coat of clear with no effort. It will do the same thing as a conventional gun but do it with less air pressure and save materials. For single stage I use my old sata rp,base coat sata 3000 hvlp.I also have a devilbiss plus gun that I use once in awhile,it will spray anything well and is reasonably priced.I have not used Iwata so I can't comment, but in my area they want more for Iwata than sata....so I don't see the point in trying one.

I've got a couple of Sharpe guns. Absolutely love them. Use little air, 1.3 tip for base and clear, 1.8 for primer. Use no CFM and spray very nicely. Plus they are inexpensive.

I think it's really personal preference. Unfortunately this is one of those..."You get what you pay for" items. I like DeVilbiss and Binks. Sata guns work great as well as Accuspray. Again, it's really personal preference but in reality...you get what you pay for. If you want a great finish buy a good gun. I would say probably around 400-600 bucks for a good one.

I use the Devilbiss FLG3 guns. Have had good results with both the Nason clears for cheap repairs and the High Production Dupont clears. Minimal adjustment when switching clears and the tips all interchange.
