: what would you pay for this 68 SS
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 10:21 AM I have a chance at this Chevelle, although I wouldn't give him 16,900 for one without the original engine, I just wanted to know what you guys think. I sold my 68 SS 2 years ago with a 'ce' block but everything else including the sheetmetal was original for 16,500. So here's the link:beers:

hpsherlin Aug 20th, 09, 11:13 AM Nice looking car. I like the 68's.
$16.5K with the "original" engine would be a steal.
Doesn't have it, but neither is a "ce".
Who knows with the economy like it is but I would think worth the asking price.
jackoxc Aug 20th, 09, 11:20 AM what is the body color on that car?
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 12:17 PM looks like the seafrost green paint code PP
JWA Aug 20th, 09, 12:27 PM Wow, they are willing to throw away $13k after 2 years of ownership? Must be needing $$? I think it isn't a bad car being a 4 speed and all but far from correct if that is what you are after. I don't think 2 years ago that car was worth $30k. I wouldn't buy it because of that awful steering wheel. :D That is the biggest pile of junk Grant ever made IMO. Obviously the market is showing that car isn't done well enough to get the good $$ for it.
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 12:30 PM he said he paid 29,500 2 years ago & spent 2k having interior redone. IMO its not worth 16,990 & sure as hell isn't worth 30k. I know there is alot that isnt correct, but I'm willing to offer 15,500 if its as solid as it looks.
dpvoiceguy Aug 20th, 09, 1:03 PM I certainly hope that's a 15-16K car, otherwise mine is a 3K heap of junk (which is certainly possible).
That dent kinda sucks but there are PDR guys that wouldn't have too much trouble with it.
I think if you got it for 15,500 you'd be a happy camper.
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 1:21 PM I think he has more $$ than he knows what to do with...lol I'm going to have to go over the car very carefully, he doesn't know what rear or gears, if the tranny is orig or even the body panels. I think its cool that its an Atlanta built car built just 159 cars before the one I sold. Hopefully it'll work out, keep those answers coming
TCSS1970 Aug 20th, 09, 1:48 PM I don't think you will get that car for that money. I could be wrong but I think the car will bring 20k to 22k. When I list on ebay I like a no reserve action to stir up more interest and to get bidders going and I also like to start the bidding as low as possible. But I have a dollar figure in mind that is the minium that I'll take and I'll have a friend make sure the bid gets there. And I'll pay the fee if he doesn't get out bid. Since its over let us know how it comes out. Good luck.
Diplomat V8 Aug 20th, 09, 2:09 PM I was intersted in this car too. And I asked the seller for the colour. He did not answer. I asked a second time. I received no reply.
So he shall keep his car. Donīt know, what kind of problems he has to answer questions...
Herb396 Aug 20th, 09, 2:58 PM If I wanted that car, and had done my homework on it,,I'd offer $15,000. In today's market that's a respectable amount of cash.
bcice Aug 20th, 09, 4:32 PM Good Lord! Only 15 grand for that car? I have seen guys here pay far more for one that is a lot less car than that one is. Around here I don't think it would last long in the 20 grand area.
insanedayne Aug 20th, 09, 5:01 PM I was also interested in this car. This is the third time the guy has listed it. Good luck!
1badss396 Aug 20th, 09, 5:16 PM You guys are getting hard in your old age....
ss1970chev454 Aug 20th, 09, 5:18 PM pretty! and a good deal.
If I was to guess, the color looks like Island Teal
looks like Ohio plates too!
insanedayne Aug 20th, 09, 5:26 PM Could also be that the reason he hasn't sold it is because he wants cash in person. That rules it out for a lot of people. Also would that car really come with the teal exterior and blue interior? He should have gone with black.
704EVER Aug 20th, 09, 5:27 PM If you can buy that car for 15.5K, ask him if he's got any other cars he needs to give away. That appears to be a low 20K car IMO, but what the hell, give it a shot, these days you never know what someones' financial needs are. The worst that could happen is he drops the F bomb on you and slamdunks the phone!!;)
czeto Aug 20th, 09, 5:47 PM This car was not restored but put back together. Not much attention to detail. Except for the vin number it is basically a fixed up Malibu. What is it worth???? Whatever the buyer is willing to pay.
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 6:44 PM Alex, do you know this car or is this just an opinion? Hoping he's going to be able to meet with me on Sun. worst that happens is I'm out 5.00 in gas.
68 SS boy Aug 20th, 09, 6:46 PM I just found the Vin of my last 68 & this car was built 158 cars after my old 68, pretty cool :D
ss1970chev454 Aug 20th, 09, 9:39 PM Could also be that the reason he hasn't sold it is because he wants cash in person. That rules it out for a lot of people. Also would that car really come with the teal exterior and blue interior? He should have gone with black.
If I was buying a car long distance, that's the only way I would do it.
And yes, Teal with med. blue interior was possible. I have one conv. in my registry with that combo. IMO the Teal is more light blue, not so much green.
mr 4 speed Aug 20th, 09, 10:23 PM nice cruise night car...and it would get $17-18K around here in the NE probably.
I wouldn't let it go for $15,500 :noway:
Find another one for $15,500 and post a link here...
JWA Aug 20th, 09, 10:32 PM That is not the right shade for L code teal blue metallic:

It maybe the light but it doesn't look like F code Island Teal either:

Seafrost? I don't think so:
http://www.chevelles.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=99&pictureid=663
After looking again maybe it is an F2 code car....
Good Luck on your inspection Sunday
vferrizz Aug 21st, 09, 4:26 AM The guy's e-bay ad makes him sound like a small time car dealer. I too seriosly doubt if that was a $30K car. If you don't like the Chevelle he has a couple of police issue Crown Vics for sale.
Malibulvr Aug 21st, 09, 11:48 AM "What is it worth???? Whatever the buyer is willing to pay."
Can we please sticky this quote to the top of every thread so that people don't have to fight to be the first one to use it? LOLOL
68 SS boy Aug 21st, 09, 9:04 PM the guy was supposed to email me a pic of the trim tag & directions to his house this morning. Its 8pm & no word yet & he isn't answering his cell. bummer
68 SS boy Aug 23rd, 09, 3:36 PM just got back from looking at car it has a 'AZ' code 454 trim tag says F2 paint & 757 int. not a bad car, solid but needs some work. he doesn't have a TX title just the Ohio title when he purchased it. I offered 16,000 but he's sticking to 16,900. Told him to call me if he changes his mind
Chris_69_SS Aug 23rd, 09, 6:16 PM he said he paid 29,500 2 years ago & spent 2k having interior redone. IMO its not worth 16,990 & sure as hell isn't worth 30k. I know there is alot that isnt correct, but I'm willing to offer 15,500 if its as solid as it looks.
a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it..... for you, seems it is worth 15.5k. make an offer and if he accepts you own it. if not, well keep looking.
