My '65 has an "upgraded" radio/cassette system, at least 10-15 years old. The dash speaker is stereo but only working from one side... This type of system is plenty good enough for me, I just listen to a ball game or some old music sometimes. I'm looking to replace the dash speaker with a retrosound direct fit model- Under $70, so why not?

How do I get to it??

And does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement radio that won't cut the dash?

Many thanks-

Rich go to any of the restoration sites they will have what you are looking for. OPGI has direct replacemnt stereos as well as speakers that will fit into your front speaker mount.

To get at the speaker you need to remove the glovebox first. After that, it's really easy to get at.

Check out Custom Autosound.com. (http://www.casmfg.com/radios.htm) They have direct fit AM/FM cassette and CD radios that look old but have all the great new features.

You might want to do a search on the forums concerning those units. There is lots of useful personal experience expressed here about those units and other that are available.
