Cut the front brake line, which should release the pressure. Then take 'em apart.

Could try loosening the front wheel cylinder bleeders. They are by the upper ball joints. That might get it on and off a trailer.Good luck

First I would try banging on the drums with a hammer they may be froze to the linings.
Then try backing off the adjuster in the slot on the outside of the drums,If your lucky the slots will be near enough the bottom you can get at the adjuster, if not bang with hammer and if it doesn't roll crack the bleeder and try pulling the car with another vechile.

A picture of where the bleeders are would be great...thanks.

Cyanide,
You need to get a manual, maybe a Haynes. Good pictures.

Next, the bleeder is located on the backside of the brake backing plate, at the top, it sticks thru this backing plate, looks like a 1/4" inch nipple.

This is just the other side of the wheel. Can't miss it. The bleeder is on the top, facing towards the motor. It is likely these will be to rusted to turn. Same with the brake line fitting.

That was why I suggested cutting the metal brake line. That part is easiest to replace a section. If your brakes are truly locked up.

I got the passanger side loose by banging on it with a hammer....the driver side is still being stubborn. I'm gonna try the bleeders and see how that works.

Good deal graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Also once you get them turning you may need you back off the adjusters to get the drums off the studs because as the drums wear they create a lip and the shoes will get hung up on them and they WON'T come off

Try taking the bearing out. This will give you some flexibility to move the drum and break it loose from the linings.

Be prepared for a major overhaul of the front brakes.

They made disc brakes for your year car. I'd just convert it to disc since you are going to have to work on it and buy parts anyway.

I finally got them loose. The driver side front was a pain. The shoes were seized solid and i couldnt back off on the adjuster anymore. I had to PRY off the drum then tinker with it for a while to get it to loosen up. Now its time to start looking into discs. Thanks for everyone help.

Adam,
I'm conervting from drums to disc's on my 69. Found a set here on team chevelle in the classified section, also keep an eye on E-bay.

Good luck and let me know how your doing w/ the conversion, I'm picking mine up hopefully this weekend along with a 12 bolt rear :D
