My friend has a brand new 6AL hooked to a brand new Summit HEI distributor. The car starts up fine and revs well but when you let off the gas to idle it shuts off just like you turned the key off. We unplug the MSD 6AL and just run the distibutor it runs and idles fine. It has been triple checked as far as being hooked up correctly as per instructions. It seems like it has something to do with the specific module that the Summit distibutor comes with but I have no clue, I thought I would see if anyone here has had a similar issue before calling MSD. Thanks!

The 6AL comes with a pigtail in the box that replaces the HEI module and condensor in the distributor. Take the HEI module and condensor out, put the MSD pigtail in its place and do the other little wiring things like a separate ground that is provided, etc. Read the instructions with the MSD box as well as the illustrations for a GM HEI to MSD conversion and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the info, my friend had used the wrong instructions so once we put in the HEI magnetic pick up pig tail it ran fine. We just have to get a tach adapter now so the tach will work.
