To replace the front emergency brake cable (the one that attaches to the peddle), do I need to remove the inner fender or is the another way to do it?

Any secrets?

You shouldn't have to remove the inner fender. Once you have the cable loose from the pedal assembly, you should see the area where the cable comes through the floor pan. It's kind of a pain, but you need to compress the metal fingers that are retaining the cable in the floor pan. Once this is done you can push the cable down through the hole it comes through.

From underneath the car, disconnect the cable from the middle cable and remove the c-clip that holds the front cable into the frame rail. You should then be able to remove the cable from the engine compartment side of the frame rail. On the engine compartment side it comes up through the top of the frame rail so you should be able to simply pull the cable upwards to remove it once you have it free of the c-clip and the hole in the floor pan.

Can I just cur the cable and pull it through? What about putting the new one on?

The cable can only go out toward the engine side of the frame rail. I suppose you could cut the head off the cable at the frame rail but that would likely be really tough to do. Also, the cable itself is made from some pretty tough stuff so I doubt it would be easy to cut through.

To install the new cable, insert the cable down through the hole in the top of the frame and get it started through the hole in the back side of the frame and install the c-clip. Then bend the cable into a "U" so you can start the pedal end into the hole in the floor and push it in until the retaining tabs click into place and hold it in place. Then hook it up at the pedal and under the car.

If you are thinking you can cut the inner cable to remove it while leaving the cable housing in place, I don't know of a way to do that. The inner cable has knobs at both ends that prevent it from going through the housing. You have to replace the cable, housing and all.

Removing the inner fender would make things easier to get at and see at the frame rail but it shouldn't be necessary to remove it.
