I have a dent on the roof of my 67 chevelle near the windesheild that needs to be banged out. The headliner is still in excellent condition. I was wondering if i would be able to remove the front part of the headliner and re install it without too many problems. can this be done?

Ange,
Should be able to. You will need to remove the mirror and visor brackets. Next remove the plastic trim that holds the headliner to the roof frame at the top of the windshield.
Next remove the chrome side trim on each side.
I think that's got it. Now pull the headliner loose at the front and down each side as far as you need to in order to access the dent.
Headliner is held on with 3M adhesive or the like.
When ready to put the headliner back, follow the sticky on installation. Get some adhesive and a bunch of those gem clips.
Good luck and hope this helps.

If it is close to the windshield, the metal frame of the roof will prevent you from getting in there to access it.
Old headliners are very likely to tear at the slightest pull.
I would use a stud weld puller to remove the dent and forget going at it from the inside.
You'll be sorry...
