I am trying to figure out why the PO ran red 10 gauge from where the horn relay should be, it is spliced there with 1 wire going through the firewall with a cut off lug of sorts, then same gauge red wire coming back out of the underdash are going to a plug which should hook up to the Alt, with a couple other small wires. What did these hook up too inside the car under the dash with this heavy of wire, The red wire coming from the firewall plug goes to a splice that has a fuse able link soldered to it which I guess is going to a regulator which isn't there, Make sense? Weird

I am going to a hei distributor and a internal alt, so I need to figure which wires go where, I have a diagram that goes to a 69 chevelle and all the wire show the right color except the white braided wire coming from the plug going to the coil + side.

Sorry I didn't have much time and after re reading my post I am surprised the mods didn't delete it. 68 Malibu 2 door hard top that has been hacked on bad, I plan on re wiring the junk but I am trying to figure out what would have been connected to the 10 gauge wires running into the car then back out to the alternator, I also have a blue wire that runs into the car from the fire wall from the distributor going to the fuse block is my guess so I figure its for the hei that somebody may have already had

There was probably an ammeter installed at one point.

A HAH I bet you are right as it looks like there was gauges mounted under the dash and all the gauge wires were cut off in the harness, oil, temp, alt etc I bet that is it.
thanks

I may not understand your description, but there is a 10 guage 'bat' wire that goes to the horn relay buss bar. The buss bar also has a wire that goes from the horn relay to the dash and is what powers the fuse box.

check these out: http://www.camaros.net/techref/electrical/What_it_is/horn_relay.htm

I believe I have that wire identified, I don't have a horn relay but I have cut wires in the area of the horn relay I guess, I don't know what they are suppose to look like but I have a idea by the schematic that I have what hooks to it.
