So some of you have been around for a long time and missed out on Al's Chevelle Gold program in the early days. Your dedication should be recognized as well... so you told us.

Well, we listened and we've got a special program for you too!

Here's the deal. If you were a member of Team Chevelle on or before December 31, 1999 and you upgrade or have upgraded to a Lifetime Membership, you will be recognized as a "Lifetime Founding Member".

You can check your signup date by clicking on your own name in any post and then click on "Show Public Profile" from the drop down menu. Look in the upper right corner under the heading Mini Statistics for the date you joined.

1) There is no extra cost for this, just the regular upgrade costs we have posted before. To repeat these...

- If you have a current 1-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days, you can upgrade to Lifetime for a single payment of $30.

- If you have a current multi-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days, you can upgrade to Lifetime for a single payment of $20.

2) Use your Paypal account to send that amount to paypal@autoforums.com If you don't have a Paypal account, PM me to send you an "Invoice" that you can pay via credit card, without setting up an account. Please include your current email address in the PM.

3) Please be sure to include your Team site name (Chevelles), your online Username, your real name, city and state so that we can match you to the records.

If you are already a Lifetime member, with a join date of December 31, 1999 or earlier, PM me and I'll fix you up. Again, there is no charge for this.

Please post here if there are any questions or difficulties.

That's nice you are doing this for us old timers, dont know how I missed out on the "Gold" deal, to long ago to remember.
Guess I'll get in on this one when I renew.

Yes I think that's great for us that didn't go with the gold membership (I know, our fault) but have been here since the beginning of paid memberships. The gold members should still have their gold status though and receive greater benefits because of it.

Just another comment here dealing with these new member status's...

I realize that for a while Gold memberships were redistributed to other members when numbers became available... that was all fine and good.

But now that the text has been added "Gold Founding Member"... i just find it tacky when i see users who's join date is like 2005 or other obviously newer dates.... Pretty far from a founding member IMO.

Just a pet peeve. Guess thats one reason i was against adding & changing the membership levels beyond Gold & Team Member for so long.

Oh well.

What about the additional benefits of being a Gold Member...the @Chevelles.com email address and the extra pics storage space that we as Gold Members have paid extra for each previous year???
How is that going to change??

I missed that by 11 months. I browsed this website quite a bit before that when I was building my 70 though. I found Team Chevelle in 1998 but didn't actually pony up until 2000.

That doesn't sound right. Surely a gold member that joined TC after 1999 can't be considered a founding member. Maybe they joined in '99 or before but later upgraded to gold member. Could be just an easily corrected clerical error as simple as changing the posted join date to when they ORIGINALLY joined. IMO anyone that joined as a paying member of any type after 1999 can't be labeled a founding member.

There are a bunch of Gold members who got the Gold membership level as they became available AGAIN when members didn't renew.

Click on the names of the active gold members at the bottom of the page and look at their details. Just saw one earlier that said joined in 2005- with Gold FOUNDING member status... Have seen others as well.

Yes I've seen the examples I and I wasn't questioning your correctness, just stating that something isn't right. Either they initially joined in '99 or before and the join date posted should be corrected, or they shouldn't be shown as founding members" IMO.

Which page?

Like Von said, it must be some kind of mistake, they can't be founding members if they weren't founding members.

I think its just a matter of the new owners applying terms that suddenly have different meaning w/o realizing it. The "founding member" text was added when they took over and added the new levels.

I don't think the join dates are incorrect. I've changed my username several times, and had a separate account at one time merged back with my original one, and my join date & post count is correct. Al & Dot were alwasy really good at that.

Honestly i really don't care- i just find it to be Tacky.

Isn't there a section at the bottom of the main page with all the current logged in member names, with the golds highlighted?

I let my membership expire this week, so i can't see it anymore.
