The other day my wife came home from Walmart with a busted headlight cover (the clear plastic cover was busted) on our 04 Impala SS!!!! Clearly it was caused in the parking lot by by a shopping basket. Of course, it was impossible to know who was the guilty person!
So, I started checking around on a replacement for the plastic cover. NOT!!!!!!! You have to buy the ENTIRE headlight module------just to replace the clear plastic cover! It's $260+from Chev parts dept! My cost at O'Reilly Auto Parts was $201! A local salvage yard wanted $125! Still tooooooooooooo much!
Well, I just got on line with Rock Auto Parts. They had 3 different versions available ($55, $56, $74), so I called and talked to the sales person. The $56 was the "economy", the $74 was the standard (both with lifetime warranty) and the $55 was EXACTLY the same as the $74 standard, but it was a wholesaler closeout with a 30day warranty.
So, I rolled the dice and went with the $55 wholesaler closeout.
I have ordered numerous parts (lots of rearend and rear axle bearings for EARLY Chevys) in the past from Rock and have NEVER been disappointed. Soooooooooooo, hopefully my $260 headlight module for $55 will be just as satisfactory!
