I found out today my local Chevy dealer can not get shocks for my 72 Chevelle SS . I have the heavy duty suspension package and positraction rear end. I got the car new and have never put shocks on it before and now I can not find a good brand name shock that has a listing for this set up. If anyone knows what would be a good shock to put back on the car please let me know. Some of the local parts stores tell me they have some for about $20 bucks each but that does not sound like it would be a good shock. Thanks for any info anyone may provide.

$10.00 a piece gas shocks from Checker are probably better shocks than the shocks that came from the factory.

Thanks Ken, I guess the originals were not that great after all. I just figured they might have been better because of the heavy duty package .I won"t worry about what I put on the car now as long as they fit. Thanks

I have Monroe Sensa-trac shocks on my Chevelle and they give a nice ride, I got them from Sears for around $20.00 each.

I went out today and got the Monroe Sensa-trac shocks for my car.I have not put the rear ones on yet, tail pipe is right where I need to get a socket. I guess I will pay someone to put the rear ones on but at least I know now they will give a nice ride. Thanks BK72SS

We're very happy with KYB and they were a bolt on with no modifications required.
