I have a bunch of junk to take to the scrap yard trying to decise if this stuff is going or not, I need the space so it has to go somewhere

droptop396 Aug 18th, 09, 5:11 PM keep the brackets and water pumps if those are good those interchange.
two barrel intakes are worthless
smokn72ss Aug 18th, 09, 5:28 PM any one on the market for a unique boat ancor? ..... good second life for 2 bbl intakes ... lol
czeto Aug 19th, 09, 7:58 AM Put brackets, etc. on Ebay. Everyone is always misplacing these items and are looking for originals. The rest is junk.
Jim Mac Aug 19th, 09, 9:32 AM you might have luck with the dirt track racers on the 2 barrel setup. on the rest of it. try a 5 dollar sale on craigslist. you'd be surprised at what some people will actually buy, and not have to hassle with sending getting paid etc. jim
ktrim Aug 19th, 09, 2:27 PM Went thru one of the 2 giant crates of crap I have, Nothing of use- Just old water pumps, bent fans, smahed pulleys etc. the only thing I kept was a 4 spd bell housing from a 69 camaro. Dont know if its worth any thing or not. Still have another crate to get open, I think it has brackets and crap maybe some heads for sb, cant rember what i stucck in it. Its been probably 20 years since these have been opened. Almost forgot The first crate did have an aluminium 15x15 (or so) slot mag, Just 1 the other was blown apart on a tire changer. If you know any one that needs one really wide slot mag I got it covered:D
ktrim Aug 19th, 09, 5:55 PM also found a saginaw 4 spd with a hurst shifter bolted to it, Cant remember where it came from, Is it worth anything? or is it another boat anchor?
Highway Star Aug 19th, 09, 5:59 PM Keep me posted on what's in the crate you haven't opened yet. :D
7-t-elco Aug 19th, 09, 6:15 PM How big are these crates..
Make sure Jimmy Hoffa is not in the bottom of one...:)
Jim Mac Aug 19th, 09, 11:02 PM isnt it amazing the stuff we keep? I had a truckload, I did the 5 dollar sale thing for a week, then offered it all for free, if anyone took all of it. I ended up taking it all to the scrapyard. jim
bcmiller Aug 19th, 09, 11:58 PM If the shifter on the saginaw transmission is original, the trans and shifter together are probably worth a couple hundred on a good day to the right person. That is if there are no problems with the transmission.
As for that bellhousing, it depends on the casting number. What is it?
I am looking for an original 454 dipstick and tube. Let me know if you have them.

Just took a pile to the dump from restoring the Chevelle and a pile of Holleys. I was telling a friend of mine a couple of dominators hit the scrap and he had a fit. I told him he didn't want to pay for the stuff when I tried to sell it so I sure as heck fire ain't giving it away. My junk and I do what I want with it. I have been told that you can sell anything at a Super Chevy event so maybe give that a whirl if you want to ruin a weekend. Dunno.....
ktrim Aug 20th, 09, 9:57 AM The shifter is not original as it has universal type brackets on it, I took 700lbs of scrap to the yard yesterday. Alot of old water pumps and intakes, a complete 307 short block that had been under mom and dads deck for 15 years. I didn't see jimmy hoffa in the first crate but there was several mouse nests and som wasp nests. Hopefully sunday Ill get into the second one. I still cant rember where most of this crap came from. Im sure I kept it for a reason, just cant rember what the reason was.
I may have a 454 dipstick in the garage, Ill check this afternoon.
edit: casting number on bellhousing is 3858403
bcmiller Aug 21st, 09, 1:42 PM Well don't scrap the bellhousing. It should be worth $40-80 and maybe more depending on condition.
You would get $5 at most for it as scrap.
fishhead Aug 21st, 09, 2:34 PM I love watching people scrap good things....
Free ads here...
My buddy is a junkman...
He gets cars/trucks all day long and some have titles and some run. They go to the junkyard so he can get the quick cash...
I've seen some nice motors get towed and scraped...
Not saying your stuff is gold...but with the free classifieds, it would be too easy to put pictures up of some parts and just take an offer...things that dont sell after a week or two then could be taken to the dump...
ANYONE that has a SBC in their car should be interested in extra CHEAP parts...whats the price for scrap metal out your way? $5-$10 per hundred???
I might have bought your holley's....had I known...
20 years from now we wont be able to find anything for SBC/BBC thats cheap.
