: Some changes are needed
Jim_D Aug 18th, 09, 1:07 AM After another attempt at trying to make it into the 8's, I think I need to make some minor changes.
1.) Need extra nitrous bottle. I run low quickly.
2.) I am currently wiring the bottle heater to a dedicated battery. Ran low on juice.
3.) Thinking of going to a 7al box
4.) Suspension. After Parsons came over and looked at the suspension I think I will be taking it in for some major changes. It worked for a 10.0 car but it isn't handling the power I am putting to it. Just so ya know, there was no downward movement on front and back when Parson pushed down.
See, I already have plans on going quicker! :hurray:
Mr. Monza Aug 18th, 09, 1:49 AM I have a 7AL2 for you!
FourEightyNine Aug 18th, 09, 2:26 AM Jim im still new on this big tire suspension setups. Why do you want to be able to push down on the rear and the front?
Opposite of a small tire setup...

The car is bunny hopping, The tires are acting as the suspension. In my case the rear tires were wadding up, then unwadding, then wadding up again. You have to have some give in the car. The front is worse, it has no travel and almost hitting the bump stop. Parson weighs 200 pounds and him jumping on the frame rails revealed no movement. I will take the 4 corner weights that Darryl did, maybe ask him to do it again to be sure and let Art Morrison have at it.
I tell you, I am doing 8's next year and if God wants me to stick around, I will buy a 632 I have my eye on. :D

Martin, I would hate like heck to take your backup box. But if you twist my arm enough I might do it. This is why you are a special guy, always helping others.

I say do it. :)
aukai Aug 18th, 09, 4:21 AM Not enough nitrous...get up on the tire:D
cobaltchev67 Aug 18th, 09, 4:49 AM I will agree with Mike(aukai)....a 100 shot(from what Darryl said) isn't much for an engine of that caliber, especially when you're already using race gas. I think a 150 shot would get you closer to your goal.

Fat Tire Aug 18th, 09, 8:42 AM Jim,
Just my input...
I wouold focus your suspension goals on the front half...
But remember.. Tube chassis cars don't usually have a lot of weight travel and wheels up (Martin style) reaction... :D
The nitrous will hit a lot softer on a High compression High HP motor.. We know that.. But a 200 shot will easily put you in the 8's ....
A good ignition is always a must ... especially with the juice.... are you running the right plugs (recessed diodes), gap and timimg when running the bottle??? and Pleeeeeease stay away from the 7AL3... I have had nothing but problems with mine... Pulling my 7AL2 back off the shelf and using it.. Only have 2 miles on the 7AL3 and hate it... Go to the MSD Forum sight... read all the complaints and problems people are having with it...:( including me....
You'll be there Jim... No worry's... Running an 8 is only a pill change away ... :hurray:
