I had to put shoes in my beater 84 cutlass. The springs on the brake bar had broken and shoes chattered. There is no access in the housing to adjust the brake and can't get the drum on when shoes are adjusted. Ideas anyone?
Thanks, Dave Seitz

There is a knockout in the backing plate, remove it and you can adjust the shoes from that spot. It will still be tight and a pain to adjust.

If it's like our Chevelles or my son's 86 Olds, the knock-out is on the brake drum.
