I did my lowers about 6 months ago and came out fine. I did all the work except I had the machine shop press in the joints and bushings. I heard it is and it isnt easy to press them in yourself. Whats the story here? smile.gif
I am about to pull off my uppers, I have the stuff already. So do I just use a torch and some tools and slam out the old ones? Them hammer in the new ones? Whats a good technique?

I don't think "hammering" them in is good... When the shop presses them in its done without alot of impact (which could damage the new part or the crossshaft)... I have seen them usually removed (bushings) by hammering (air chisle).

The upper balljoints bolt-in anyway... Just grind/drill out the old rivets, and bolt in the new ones with the supplied bolts (I've always seen the bolts incuded)...

If the uppers are original they will be riveted into the upper control arms. You can chisel the heads of the rivets off from the top side (an air chisel makes this real easy), then knock the rest of the rivets through (from top to bottom) with a punch. The new ball joints will bolt in to the control arms unless you find someone who will rivet them in for you. I have seen this done but don't know where it was done.

This is an pretty easy job, just make sure you break the ball joints loose from the spindle before you remove the rivets.

Hope this helps.

To save a little cash I punched out the old bushings and a torch and some carefully placed hammer strikes works for removal but if you know someone with a press or a buddy with a shop i would use a press but if your a little strapped for cash like I was torch + hammer
