I'm new to this forum so have probably missed discussions on this subject. Looking for tips on capatible vehicles from which spindles can be farmed for transplant into my 65 Chevelle. After market is costly and I would rather spend the money elsewhere.

I have modified several sets of spindles to accomodate disk brakes, if you want I can provide some details. Most chevelle, nova, camaro(and buick/olds/pontiac equivalent)should work. If you can modify the spindles then you can get the brackets from ebay or a junkyard, the calipers can be had easily. Just a thought

I gotta agree with Joe. If it's cost, and you have a little fabrication experience, I'd be tempted to madify your spindles, buy a set of caliper brackets from our sponsor, Ground Up, for $90, buy new rotors, rebuilt calipers, bearings, nut kit and caliper bolts from your favorite auto parts store. Piece it togther yourself. Master cylinder, booster and lines is another subject. Get the disc part first.

I used these guys (http://www.scarebird.com/4436.html)

Went to Ebay for the rest. Well under $300.00 total.

Enjoy

For my 64 Mailbu, I used a full brake set off a 78 or 79 Z28 these are tall spindles. Then I exchanged calipers for rebuilts at Auto Zone. New Z28 rubber brake lines and rotors. Lower ball joint has to be machined to fit "A" armr and camero tie rods.

Do a search on this subject there is enough feed back on this subject to keep you confussed forever.
