Trying to install 1 1/4 in PST swaybar on 67 SS396 frame. The car had a really smallmaybe 7/8 bar on it when I bought it and i knew it was wrong for the car..The problem with the PST bar is that it is to big in diameter and hits the idler arm.It won't allow the bushing mounts to capture the attachment holes on the frame rail on the passenger side.I contacted PST and they sent me a set of shims to lower the bar but the sway bar will still hit the idler arm where it mounts to the frame.I know that the big bar should work on this car as it is true ss 138 car.I even tried another idler arm but the swaybar still hits it and will not allow the bar to go backwards far enough to capture the frame rail mounting holes.Any ideas at all.I've tried everything.

A 67 never came with an 1 1/4 factory bar. the bar should not be lowered as such. Mount it on the frame with the original 67 mounts, just buy the bushings for an 1 1/4 bar.

I had a similar problem with a 1-1/8" '79 Trans-Am bar on my '69, it rubbed the tie-rod. I was able to drill a couple new holes in the frame and move the bar forward about an inch. I just used self-tapping bolts, and all is well.

I think a better way, however, would be a shorter end-link.
