I think a lot of it is caused by solvents coming out of the vinyl .I had a new 95 Corvette that was the worst, and that's what the service manager told me it was.

Windows up, heat and vinyl outgassing is the usual culprit. New vinly and or the type of vinly dressing used can also play a role. Seems to be more common with new seats outgassing, dash treatments things like that.

New seats or vinly treatments?

If so try putting a towel on your dash when the car is parked and if new seats leave the windows cracked for a while (if you have a garage)

I am going to guess you dont have a hippie in your neighborhood thats sneaking into your car to hot box their doobies. If so, slap the hippie and problem solved. :D

seats are in great condition, but not new. I use armorall on dash, Car is not garaged. No hippies as far as I know, lol.

If your heater core is leaking a little, the antifreeze gives off an oily film that will slime up your windows. IIRC. :)

Cease with the armorall for the time being. I bet thats a major contributor.

I prefer poor boys or even lemon pledge wipes for the vinyl (yes, the stuff used around the house to dust with - Thanks RichL79 )

Try to towel over your dash when the car is parked / sitting and see if the windows dont get as bad and that should tell you if the armorall is making this problem worse (and I bet it is).

Good point for sure! Check the carpet, feel around the floorboards on the heatercore side.

Good to know hippies arent the issue. They're fairly easy to dispose of. You just need doobies and a guitar. Flash the doobies and guitar like bait and head out, they will follow you like a pied piper. Once in a safe location they will form a drum circle and you can make your escape and secure the premises. If they return, play heavy metal. It works like an owl statue for getting rid of birds.

Just putting that out there for those that may in fact have a hippie problem.

Have a good one, fellas. :beers:

Did you empty the heater core when you bypassed it? If not flush it with water.

The best glass cleaner I have found that seems to make them stay cleaner longer is the GM spray foam you can buy at GM Dealers.

As soon as I read your post, I said "Armorall" in my head. DEFINITELY the cause of this problem.

Another issue with Armorall is that it eventually leads to the infamous cracked dash once you stop using it. The material stops getting "wetted" and reformed with the Armorall (and Tire2000, all the clones), when it dries out, it tends to crack. When you see dashes in pick-a-part lots with zillions of cracks in them, it's usually the Armoralled ones...

I agreee 100% with Brian on this one. Armorall cracked the dash on my '68 GTO years ago because I stopped using it and that led to the drying out and cracking. 64elkynss
