Tony Dungy's word means a lot. Still, The Eagles are going to have to put up with a lot of crap with the media around for a while!

Cleveland Browns couldn't take him. The 'friendly' end of the field is called the Dawg Pound...l:)

well here is my .02 cents. the man has done his time. I think he is truly regretful considering all he has lost. God granted him with an incredible talent for playing ball. after he scores about 4 or 5 td's it will all be water under the bridge and all of those philly fans will be ecstatic with joy....it was terrible what he did, but I feel he was made an example with his sentencing...

now donte stallworth is another story. let you or I kill somebody while drunk driving our car. we would maybe get a life sentence. that guy got probation.. thank goodness the nfl has shown some form of punishment (not enough imho) since our "legal" system did not !!

Vick is a scumbag. But I guess if the Eagles want a scumbag for a quarterback, that's their business.

In my life I've noticed over the years .....You can tell a lot about people in the way they treat their pets and animals. Anyone who can intentionally cause these animals to attempt to kill one another is not right... There is nothing anyone could say that could justify his actions in my book. By him just signing a piece of paper he will reap more monetarily than a steel worker would make in a lifetime...all for what? Because he can run fast, throw a ball, give me a break.

I think the DUI Homicide sentence was way to light but I can sympanthize more for making a bad choice and getting into an accident once compared to someone that preplanned animal cruelity repeatedly not for money but soley to fill an sadisitc violent nature and this personality doesnt change by a small stint in jail...

It could go either way how fans decide to treat him, they may well all just forgive him but Philly isnt the best place to find this out. Philly fans can be excessive and I wouldnt be surprised to see massive interruptions whenever he goes onto the field.

Sure he is regretful and doing and saying all the right things now.. HE WAS CAUGHT!! and while he may have DONE HIS TIME.... it doesn't excuse the action.. Second chances are great.. but our CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE may have been just too Loving in this deal... oh well... much bigger issues in the world then worrying about some dumb a$$ football player.. it's all about money and business.. not ethics :(

Tony Dungy's word means a lot.

Not to sound racist, just an honest question. Would Dungy have intervened if this would have happened to have been a white QB with the same abilities?
As far as I can see he had no professional ties to Vick to warrant his intervening in the issue!

And you can tell alot about a person from their pets!!! This guy would have to pull off some heroic act (going into a burning house to save a life, etc.) to get my respect at this point. As for Dungy there could be some motivation in regards to race but just thinking out loud he is trying to salvage something out of this guy unlike his son which took his own life a few years back. Dungy just seems like a class act. And as excessive as the Philadelphia fans can get he could not have found a better place to test what he claims is a reformed Michael Vick. Once again, screw him!!!

I'll just bet there are few defensive linemen and linebackers in the league who are dog lovers who will relish the chance to "meet and greet" him on the field of play. He'd also better hope his own offensive linemen are really good at their jobs.

So you guys think that Vic being on the field gives defensive lineman and linebackers super powers that allow them to hit harder, break through offensive lines, etc more so than with other QB's?

Your talking about money and when your talking about money they dont care who is there taking the snap - its the same aggression and skill. They want their bonuses, they want their credit, they want the pro bowl, they want bigger checks. We're not talking about high school ball where people still play for the game. I dont believe, at all, that there is a player in the NFL that would stay if you told them today that they would be making 75 K a yr tops. They dont play for the game, I dont care what they say. They play for the money.

Thats all it is. The whole deal end to end. Him coming back, him getting a pass, other NFL players getting a pass....its flat out, end all be all about money. Its not about someone caring for someone and giving them a second chance, all emotional, etc. Its JUST about money.

Unless the eagles games get boycotted and the team feels the impact and loss from those boycotts both on and off the road then nothing will happen. Unless Vick just sucks and causes all kinds of division within the team. But, that wont happen if they win and get somewhere because - back to the money. Its why Barry Bonds is still where he is. Its why Michael Irvin got away with coke and hookers, still played, does commentary and even hosts his own show. Money.

X2:yes:

Come on guys the world is all about MONEY. MONEY MONEY MONEY! Dont get me wrong, I dont like what Vick was doing because he already had money. But I know people that fight pitbulls for a living because that is all they know. And the money thats involved in fighting pitbulls is just crazy. 5k-500k for a damn dog fight is ****ing retarded. And even 10k for a damn puppy is just flat out stupid. Again anything for MONEY. So I'm not going to sit around and bash VICK for what he did, for every action there is always a consequence. And he got his consequence. So now lets just move on. NO one is perfect, sit down and think about your past or maybe your present of some of the things that you've done that maybe someone else wouldn't like or accept. So come on guys lets stop bashing this guy for that, he served his punishment. Come on guys. So what ever happen to the guys that Vick was fight his dogs against. Oh yeah trust me he's not fighting his own dogs against each other that would be pointless and stupid.

Its not "all they know" because, as you pooint out in the next line - money. Its because they're just lazy, money hungry, cruel people that dont have the mental capacity or drive to get their asses out and work. Its the same reason pimps do what they do. Lazy ass bastards that make money illegally on the backs of people they crush mentally and physically and flip. But with people that fight dos its even less skill because you dont even need any game, you dont need the mouthpiece to go along with the physical. You just need the physical part of it and its not difficult to exploit these dogs animal aggressive nature. So they arent even smart people.

People dont sell dope and stay in the ghetto because its all they know. They do it because they like the lifestyle and the easy quick money and they choose to. So I agree - its about the money. Its not because its all they know. Its what lazy bastards CHOOSE to know because college was too hard, work is too much, they dont want to get up and go to a job every day, etc.

The day I catch someone that I confirm fights dogs is the second time I will wrap a thick chain against someones face. APBT's are all I know. I love the breed. I know what the dogs are truly capable of (intelligent, loyal, smart, loving dogs). I also know what humans are truly capable of, which is why I prefer my dogs.

But definitley on the same page with you. No matter what the business, legal or illegal, the sole reason for having that business is to generate revenue and as much as possible. And people will get a pass if revenue can be attached to their name or skill (perceived or otherwise)

Seen it happen plenty of times where I work on a smaller scale.

Mistakes happen. Players get fined. Players get suspended. But what Vick did was not a mistake by any stretch. He knew what he was doing and had plenty of time to think about what he was doing. He certainly didn't need the money. No matter how much he says he is a changed man....he is not. I would bet that he would do it again if he knew it wouldn't cost him.

i still dont really understand all the press this guy gets-take away his running, hes not that great a quarterback-still, he did his time- they throw so much money at these guys at their age, and people worship them so much, they think they can do anything, and really dont have the brains to handle it-i mean, have you heard these guys talk, no idea what their saying half the time, lol

.yes he got caught, yes he paid for it,yes he did jail time..get over it.. they let people go for less that murder using their cars in a dwi accident for less time..sex offenders back in our neighborhoods, drug dealers dealing to our kids..vic is small potatoes compared to other scumbags...if we were not given second chances in our lives we would be first in line at the gates of hell..thank god jesus died for our sins and gave us a second chance!!..many good things come out of bad! if he screws up again nail him to a wall!!..im glad my mother and father gave me a second chance for breaking a vase when i was 10 otherwise id still be in time out or grounded in my 30's the way some of you guys think!!

I'm not saying they will obtain superpowers, I'm talking about an increase in motivation. :D

But tell me, don't you think that a dog loving linebacker might be just a little more willing to take a cheap shot in a pile up because it's Vick? I sure do. What if he had molested children? Every guy on the field would be gunnin' for him more than the average QB and LOTS of people feel the same way about their dogs as they do kids. Even in the money-grubbing world of professional sports many of these guys can have a great deal of respect for their opponent and play with some level of sportsmanship, remove the respect, remove the sportsmanship. Regardless of the money-driven nature of the beast, personal feelings and motivations still have an effect and when opportunity knocks.....BOOM!

Vick will have a larger bullseye on him than any other QB in the entire league.

OK, so the Eagles gave him a second chance, not that he deserved it. I"ll be surprised if the PETA bunch dowesn"t stir up a big stink every tiime he appears. I would much prefer to see him working some menial job for minimum wage, let him find out how the real world lives. He better be squeaky clean for a long time because this dog deal is gonna stick to him like krazy glue.

If you guys think that Vick is the only NFL player that fights dogs, then I hate to burst you bubble. NO he is not, he is just the only one to get caught doing it. My former Boss and I were extremely close and him and his wife designed suits and dress attire for professional athletes and luckily I had a chance to meet and hang with some pro players. And TRUST me VICK is NOT the only one that fights dogs. I DONT like what he did but the way things are now people will do anything for MONEY. POINT BLANK.

BEAUX;

I understand where you are coming from. I went to college, graduated with a 3.37 GPA, partied all the time, got a decent job now and all. And I grew up in the ghetto. Does that make me a bad person, FREAK NO. Life is all about choices and my high school friends that didnt want to attend college to sit at home and sell dope and fight pits for a living are not considered my FRIENDS anymore. They are all associates now. And I'm only 23 and a single father. I call having a girlfriend single since that selection is not on my w2 and i'm not married yet but engaged. And my associates hate the fact that I'm not there with them and don't hang around with them anymore. Yet I drive a 1987 chevrolet caprice brougham and I get hassled by cops for no apparent reason just because of the car. LIKE WTF.

Most people I know do sell dope and fight dogs because that is all they know. They chose to drop out of school early and not look for a job and not learn anything but the ways to train pit bulls and sell dope. So therefore they do it ONLY because thats all they know. I'm not taking up for them by any means because if I were a state trooper I would arrest they asses and show my town that its more to the world than selling dope and fighting dogs.

I love dogs, I have a full breed German Rottweiler (sheba) and to full CKC yorkies. I bought the Rottweiler when she was born back in 97' and I had to wait 5 weeks before I could bring her home and she was bought when my little sister was born and my dog is still alive, OLD as hell, but still alive. My two yorkies Fluffy (male) and Duffy (Female) were bought when they were 6 wks old last year in OCT. And I love those little beautiful ****s to death. If something was to ever happen to either 3 of my dogs I would break down and cry, but in a manly way.

BTW, I know my dogs have corny names so please dont talk about my dogs, THANKS.
