Why the hell did i sell that car again? :( (oh yeah, family & responsibility... Doh!)

Damn it looked & sounded good. I gotta rob a 7/11 or something so i can get a big block into the olds. I really miss being able to burn the piss out of my tires w/o even trying.

Ben,Olds 455's are cheap! I can tell you about some pretty stout combos I have put together over the years. Heck,a 1969 455 stocker with a mild Crower cam,Torker intake (best intake for the BBO) and 750 double pumper got my old 70 442 clone down into the low 13's @102-103 MPH with 2.73 gears and stock convertor on street tires.
After freshening the motor ,going with a Comp XE,Edelbrock heads,950 HP Holley,3" exhaust,3.31 gears and a 3500 stall car ran a best of 11.66 @ 115 MPH

I was offered a '76 Buick Riviera today(again for the 3rd time in a few years) from a pastor that came in the hospital room.....has a 455 from what he's told me over the years. He's looking to just get rid of it...I said I know someone who might want the engine. Swap the 330 into the Riviera and sell it, put the 455 in the Cutlass...just an idea.

Buick 455 is not an olds 455 unfortunatly or i'd be all over it. :(

I've been watching CL ever since i got the car and there are definitely deals to be found on Olds 455s... There is one up in Belingham right now 69 455 w/ TH400 for $300 (G heads for those that know)... Its been on and off all summer. I'd bet $200 would take it.

There is another 455 supposedely out of a 68 up in arlington for $250- also has been for sale all summer.

Problem is, 1st priority for the car really is getting the rest of my stuff for a disk brake swap on the front & redoing the worn out suspension, and i don't have the $$ for either of those projects either, soooo.... :)

It'll happen eventually, and really i'm very happy with the car, but every now and then i do have my regret pangs for selling that elky.

There is a beautiful all black 70 elky ss454 i see every few days out driving when I'm on my way home, and it always makes me think of mine when i see it.

..and so are the Olds 455 motors :)

Ben,a 69 and older 455 should have C heads...G heads are 1971/72 lower compression heads.
1970 heads are E...and the later 74-76 are J castings which are very low compression with small valves (J=Junk)
D are 69 Hurst/Olds heads (big cash) along with F heads which are W30 heads (also big cash)
I love the Buick and Olds big blocks...lots of serious potential for cheap...but the Buicks are more expensive to build than the Olds.

Aw man, the link dose not work for me:noway:

I know no engine build project is cheap, just start collecting parts when you can. I think you got a cool car now and it will get where you want it to be.
