Yep. That time of year..... had to go see the doctor and have my annual physical..... yep.

But.... good news!

For an old guy, I'm in pretty good shape. He wants me to lose about 10 pounds before it becomes too hard to lose, said my bloodwork came back very good and most importantly, since my PSA's were .66, we didn't have to use the dreaded rubber glove!

Yea!

Since his hands were clean, I shook his hand and said, 'See ya next year!'

Mine is coming up in a couple of weeks. So he only wants you to lose 10 lbs., mine wants closer to 100! but at 60 and 20 years over what I had figured I'm not changing anything.

When I go to the doctor and see him put the rubber gloves on and says bend over..........I remind him this is NOT the best way to be my friend!!

The worst part is, after a while, you may not like the glove, but it becomes sort of interesting to see if Drs. wife bought him a new ring for his birthday:sad:

Had mine in March, Doc wants me to get to 200 lbs, haven't been that light since I was a teenager, fat chance, I'm 62 now and would like to get to 250 by New Years Day, at 278 now.

A pound a week is all we ask....
I'm also 62 and have lost 40 pounds in the last 4 years. I think people look too hard at the total they need to lose, rather than the incremental amount they can easily lose. A 500 calorie daily difference in intake/outgo will make a huge difference.

x2! That's the way, Leo. Change one thing about what you're doing and it will help gradually.... Think long term. I'm a runner, but I also try not to eat after dinner or late at night. (Right now I'm sitting at the computer with a BIG mug of coffee trying to get motivated for the daily run....) OK, just 5 more minutes and then here I go! :p

I got my physical earlier this year, first time ever at 51. About the time I was going to get the old rubber glove with vaseline, he looked around and told me he needed to go get me some "Equipment". I kinda of got concerned until he said "Oh, wait a minute there are some right here". He then handed me a box of tissues. I honestly thought the guy was going to rip me wide open. I am about 6' 3" 250# and he dang near lifted me off the floor with a single finger. OUCH!!

What was he, an ex-lineback for Miss State or something? My first physical of this 'type' was when I turned 50.... my doctor that I had for the previous 5 years was a cute GIRL doctor and here the dreaded physical was coming up.

My wife said, oh come on. Good grief... women see men doctors all the time for stuff - quit being a baby.

I told her it was not the same... it would damage my mental state forever.

The doctor said, be glad that I am a girl with small fingers.

I considered that, got my courage up and got it done. So, if you think you are tough.... well, try it using a woman doctor..... fortunately..... the doctor did not hate men!

When a doctor tells someone to lose 10 lbs he really just being polite, he means he wants you to lose 25 lbs.

Well, I'm 6 ft and 203 pounds so I'm not really overweight.

He would like me to be more towards the 190 area to get my BMI down.

If I lost 25 pounds, I'd have to run around in the shower to get wet!

I have already modified my daily stuff, was at 282 when I started, made 270, but gained some back in the last three months.

Tell her to use two fingers and when she asks you why, tell her you want a second opinion.

Sadly, she has moved on to the V.A. Dom..... to help the vets (lucky them.... she is a great doctor).

Two fingers would mean that I'm a big a$$ hole... which I have been accused of before but sheesh! I'm not willing to let someone try to prove it!
