So I decided to tune in on Nascar.com yesterday to see how Jr was making out. The first image I see on the site was his car wadded up into a big mess. It's a tough year to be an Earnhardt fan.

He's a talented guy.Darrell Waltrip I think sums it up best,he's got so much pressure on him to perform well, nobody can perform under that.

Mark Martin on the other hand is doing unreal. I hope he wins the championship this year,he's a great guy.

I like when they asked him earlier this when he won if he was going to do a burn out and he goes...I think that's stupid...lol...he's so old school, it's cool though.

no offense but i don't think Jr is half the driver his Ol'Man was. i also think since his wreck at Talladega (i believe) a couple years ago that he's been scared to drive. i think he "knows" what it is to hurt now.

ever since Dale's death i've been a Stewart fan, always liked him... Junior i think is popular mostly because of his name, not his driving.

I was an Ernie Irvan fan, then was a Adam Petty fan:(

So Jr's a class act guy,yes he needs to be more aggressive I agree.Ah...I'm stickin with it.:p

I don't have a dogin the hunt as I have not chosen a favorite driver after the death of Sr of whom I was a big fan!
Moatly these days I choose any driver as long as they beat little shrub!:D
Now to the last post.
That has been part of the problem as people keep insisting on comparing the two!
No he is not his daddy! Two different personalities altogether! But to say he's not half sells him short of what his actual talent really is!
We say his dad have bad years too! Give him a chance to get back into his groove and you will see him winning again!

i think his record speaks for itself.

not saying he's not a "Good" driver... he is. but he'll never be a "Great" driver. i don't think, just my opinion now, that he'll ever win a cup. he blew his chance a few years ago when he was penalized for on air language.

what's your opinion ?

and don't get me wrong, i like Jr ;)

I don't watch sports or racing, but I watched the late news last night and they had a few seconds of coverage. I would have thought that Gordon would have been big news...........looks like he did a header into the guardrail at speed.......the car then stopped suddenly. Reminded me of the Big E crash.

Guess that HANS device works.

Correct, the closest thing we have to SR. it Kyle Bush, the kid can drive..now if he would just smarten up a little.

did you see what happened to him on Saturday night at the Nationwide (i still want to call it the Busch series..) when Macrus Ambrose dove in under him? he freaked out and slammed on the brakes, which led him to blow thru the "bus stop". he had to come to a complete stop before he could continue on.
then, after the race, he complained because it's not cool to dive in on HIM like that, and that it could have caused a wreck. i thought it was more than a little ironic hearing something like that come out of Kyle Busch's mouth..

All he would have to do is 1. keep his mouth shut if he doesn't have a positive thing to say. 2. Give a decent interview without looking like he ate a persimmon after a good finish. 3. Stop blaming his over driving a car and hitting the wall or wearing out a tire on being a bad car, he doesn't have to lead every lap every race!
He would actually gain some fans but as it is he is actually losing fans lately!
He needs to concentrate on being a cup driver. Ok to race some races down in the lower divisions but not try to drive them all!
I think that practice has hurt several cup drivers lately!

Now that's funny. I did see a quick clip of that. He runs people over all the time,he could care less who he takes out.

for some reason Nascar seems to leave Bush alone, no matter how many wrecks he has caused-if he wants to get in the chase, he better make some friends, or a "racing wreck" might knock him out-he can drive, i'll give it to him, just cant stand his attitude, maybe hes to dumb to learn-Jr has had a lot of bad luck this year, some he caused, some mistakes by other-rumor has it he may be pushed off the team-to bad they couldnt work it out and he stayed with DEI, i felt that was his best shot, but to many people were calling the shots that didnt know what they were doing
Was glad to see Tony win, got to spend a little time with him once, he is actually pretty cool-knows where to buy his engines, lol

i've heard Tony Stewart saying that a 3rd car isn't out of the question.. and if Jr was to leave Hendrick, he could find a home there. plus, after a few bad seasons, expectations of him will be lowered and take a bunch of pressure off him.
that would leave a spot open at Hendrick for Danica Patric to make her failed attempt at NASCAR..

the road races are much more fun to watch than the big ovals, but the races today are nothing compared to 20 years ago.. i found this footage of the NASCAR Winston Cup race at Riverside in 1986.. the cars not only look somewhat close to what you could buy, but the racing was so much more fun to watch.. all the cars are slideways out of every corner on every lap, and some of the cars have some pretty severe battle damage. and i'd bet not a single one of the drivers was whining after the race about how someone shouldn't have passed them when or how they did.

I like alot of the drivers, but I picked Stewart this year because he went out on his own, and he moved from Toyota to Chevy!

I'm glad Tony is doing so well in his first year as part owner/driver. I didn't think he liked it when Gibbs went to Toyota.
Kyle Busch not liking the way he got passed? He should watch the tapes of how he has passed other drivers. What a crybaby! He pouts if he's not in first! He's doing everything he can to keep himself out of the chase, but then, he blew it big time last year when he was in it.
NASCAR died when Dale Sr died. That said, Sr had bad years, too. Jr will recover. I doubt Hendrick wants to get rid if the most popular driver.
My theory to staighten out the Nationwide mess with all the Cup drivers topping the points chart.........schedule two races each season where it is physically impossible for the Cup drivers to be at both places........like, Nationwide at Phoenix on a Saturday afternoon, followed immediately (like starting 30 minutes later)by a Cup race at Charlotte under the lights. That would let the Nationwide regulars make their way to the to of the points charts.
But that's just me.
Have a Toyota free day!

Yeah, very glad for Tony Stewart. I'm a Harvick fan, ad it's a REAL tough year for him! He won at the Glen a few years back... At least he's stickin' with Chevrolet...

So yah feel my pain then..lol

Heck Denny just won after a 50 race winless streak, and in the mid 90's SR. went for 2yrs without a win at one point.

They all get a dry spell.;)

Who was it that threw his empty water bottle out of his window? I seen that on SC, but didn't catch the name of the driver.

I thought that was funny. :)

In the past a normal piece of driver generated debris of choice was a chunk of roll bar padding!
