Do non cowl induction cars also use the spacer? I have a 396-350 HP with the factory cast iron intake and what I believe is the original air cleaner (no Cowl Induction) but the elbow in the valve cover comes no where near lining up with the pipe on the base of the air cleaner. Any Ideas or pictures of original engine compartments with out Cowl Induction? I have a photo I use as a reference in the back of an old Chevelle Report magazine that looks to be a factory GM photo. No C/I and it looks like no spacer because the air cleaner appears to be right on top of the fuel line. Thanks, Troy

No spacer on an open element air cleaner. They loook funny almost sitting on the intake. They don't take the same setup as the cowl air cleaner, the elbow is the same, but the hose is not the short connector. It's curved to go in the air cleaner from the rear....if that makes sense....
The tube in the bottom of the air cleaner faces more to the rear of the engine, making it more accessable to get the hose on.

Dave, Actually it does make sense. I have the weird shaped hose with the GM part # still on it. It just fits better with the spacer than without so I started to think I had the wrong hose or it took the spacer. Thanks
