I currently have rear air shocks in my 69 El Camino and had it totally deflated because I want it to be that low. My shocks are hitting the the bottom because it does'nt have any air  . If I switch to Edelbrock shocks, would it change my stance? Do I need to replace my rear springs too to keep that low?

Good Quality shocks such as the Edelbrocks or Bilsteins will not effect ride height, only a change in springs will do that. I would use the whole set of preformance shocks on all 4 corners of the car, and most definiatly lose the air shocks they are soooo 70's.

As q-ship stated shocks (other than air-shocks) won't affect ride height.
Just put a good set of regular shocks(whatever brand you like) and you should be set...
http://elcaminocentral.com/users/ahsom70/70-brambow-7.jpgMy 1970 Elky above has brand new (2 months ago) Stock HD springs in the back, and KYB gas shocks. That is the stock stance in the back. It rides nice and smooth.
The front has the original SB springs, but the previous owner cut off 2 coils to lower it. I just got a set of Eibach lowering springs for the front, but still havn't got em installed yet....
Anyway, hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I am actually dropping my front by 2 inches with Edel shocks. And my rear springs should by OK. Your right QShip, Air Shocks are Dinasaurs. I just wanted to make sure that my stance on my rear won't change when I change my shocks. thanks again!!
