First off gotta say whats up to all my Chevelle peeps. I've been keeping tabs on you all and it looks like everyone is still up to No Good.
So as some of you remember, I used my Chevelle last year to kill moles with the exhaust and a shop vac hose. It worked with no problems. WellI have moles again and decided to use my 1992 Ford work van and it completely melted the shop vac hose due to heat.
My question is "Why are the fumes so much hotter than my big block Chevelle?"

Oh ya, I landed the job I had been working for and start Sept. 1. There just might be another muscle car in my future after all.

Keep going faster and be safe...

Peace- Frank

It's good to hear things are starting to go your way Frank! Hopefully we'll see you more often around here.
My only guess is the addition of cat converters that get very hot to burn off any excess fuel and things like smaller exhaust pipe and stock manifolds hold some heat in too.

Newer engines are designed to run hotter to lower emissions.

its not the engine that runs that much hotter to melt the plastic hoses on your vac. Its the exhaust system that runs much much hotter. Cats can get upwards of 700*f so all those gasses coming out are much hotter.
