Hello, I am in need of some assistance...I recently pulled the motor out of my 67 with the intent of installing a new 430 hp 383 stroker. The motor has been out for about 2 weeks, and I am picking the new motor up on Aug. 28th. Well..Ive been painting my engine bay and things like that, getting ready for the new install. Periodically, I would engage the vehicles tranmission into nuetral, and push it out of my garage, so I could work on it. After I was done working on it, I would roll it back in the garage, and put it in park. Ive done this maybe 6 or 7 times within the last two weeks. Well...yesterday, I rolled it back into the garage and it wouldn't go into park or reverse. At first, it appeared the tranny was going in nuetral, but after fooling around with it for a few minutes, the tranny would only go in high and low gear (stuck there). And the vehicle still rolls backward and forward in gear (is it supposed to do that?). I checked the linkage and everything looks to be ok with that. I have been reading some posts on here regarding other transmissions being stuck in gear, but I havnt found any powergliders experiencing the same problem. Should I start by dropping the pan and seeing if anything is damaged inside? If so, where is the drain plug on a powerglide? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am going to tackle this today when I get off work at 4pm. Thanks.

Is the front of the trans suported? If it is hanging down that maybe the culprit.

Yes...the front of the trans was hanging down more than normal when this happened. I have since resecured the trans in its normal position but its still stuck in gear.

Can anyone give me directions on what I should look at first?

Come to find out it wasn't the transmission that was locked up...it was the shifter. Anyone know anything about b+m shifters? Do these wear out after a while or no...something is definitely wrong with this shifter.
