Hello All,

This is my first post of the year - We had a baby girl on Christmas Eve and my wife and I are just to excited to do much else!

I did want to share the parts I used for the recent front drum-to-disc upgrade I completed by the middle of December.

Here is the link. (http://www.geocities.com/dbimalibu/Malibu.html)

Please let me know of any additional details you'd like to know.

BTW, the 1.5" drop springs have settled at approximately 0.5" drop from what I measured before the upgrade.

This is a basic parts list and no procedure.

I've recently purchased a 65 malibu for my daughters first car. First thing on the list is a front end rebuild. Next is the disc conversion. Did you use OEM GM spindles or aftermarket. How about calipers?

Ricardo,

Nice ride, and thanks for the info. A couple of questions. Who are the manufacturers for the
3. BR-6461 Proportioning valve
6. BR-6971 Master cylinder?

How is the brake pedal feel and do you know the bore size of the MS?

Thanks bill

The spindles and calipers were part of the kit and I believe they're aftermarket - this is the entry-level kit, about $600 including shipping.

Bill, I believe the proportioning valve is a Raybestos - hard to tell. The master cyl IS a Raybestos. Try 2539018 as a part number. What's MS?

The brake take up is very linear and definetely firm compared to power disc brakes. You get used to the way braking feels. I had non-power drums all around so the learning curve was not very steep.

The Malibu brakes very nicely now and there is very little fade with repetitive braking. The best thing about it is that it is also very well balanced and it is difficult to lock up the rears.
