I have the original bucket seat trim and need some advice on how to get it to look a little nicer. Is there a way to paint or some other way to make it look more like it was when it was original. I have tried the new stuff you can buy, and I really hated it, because it fit like crap, so I wanted to keep the original stuff on because it fits better, and honestly looks a hell of a lot better.
Thanks

The original piping is a clear plastic that's overlaying the aluminum (or bright finish) inside. Thus---you can't clean the actual bright part.
What I've done is just take some sort of light (non abrasive) paint cleaner like Zymol HD Cleanse (or any other brand) and used it with a rag to wipe and polish the clear layer. Even something like 409 would probably work find. A lot of times the clear outer layer is dirty or discolored and this process has worked well to clean off the gunk. I don't think the original stuff was ever as bright or chrome looking as the repro stuff is so don't expect to get it looking like that stuff. I prefer the original piping also.
