Mike Aug 6th, 09, 11:07 PM Sound like you've been redirected of you have a corrupt file.
This on IE or FF ?
forcd ind Aug 6th, 09, 11:35 PM whats ie or ff-remember im computer stupid, lol
Mike Aug 6th, 09, 11:45 PM Internet Explorer or FireFox.
Chevello Aug 7th, 09, 9:57 PM Sounds like a hijacker.
I use www.google.com for my homepage too, and have had no issues.
What happens if you type www.google.com into the address bar? do you get the same message or does it go to google?
Have you checked your Internet Options (Tools/Internet Options) in your browser to see if the home page has been changed there? If it has been changed there, change it back and see if it stays. If it does not stay the way you put it, you need to run Spybot S&D, a virus scanner, and probably CCleaner to get yourself cleaned back up.

forcd ind Aug 7th, 09, 10:50 PM it says on the int. options,
www.google.com/ig
now it just says cannot be displayed, if i refresh, then it says 302 moved??
i liked that homepage, had the weather and all kinds of stuff-as i remember, i was looking up some stuff on casting #'s, then some internet thing said i was infected, to run something
i had avg free, figured it missed something, so i went out today and bought Norton, loaded it, ran a scan but it found nothing
its like something is redirecting it, but i know little about computers, last one acted up i shot it 15 times and bought another one (true story)
Mike Aug 7th, 09, 11:06 PM then some internet thing said i was infected, to run something
OK ,that narrows it down -you've been had.
Download and run this http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
You should have posted this before you bought Norton as there's free stuff out there that works better.
Did this just happen yesterday ?
Might be able to do a system restore if this is XP and take it back before the hijack.
forcd ind Aug 8th, 09, 8:33 AM i had tried a recovery to the day before-i just ran that free spyware thing, says i have 296 threats, 1275 infections. low to med.)-but then it says it doesnt fix them, i have to sub. for a year
the $75 i paid for Norton is useless if it doesnt fix anything, lol
last time i had to call the Geek Squad after FIOS install, 3 hours with Verizon, the Geek S. guy came out and fixed it in 2 minutes-i can do anything on a car, but when it comes to computers i have a mental block, start hitting keys and screwing it up-back in college, the teacher once told me not to touch anything, he would give me a passing grade, as i was holding up class with my screw ups, lol(and that was in the early 70's)
i appreciate you guys trying to help me
forcd ind Aug 8th, 09, 9:07 AM this morn. i got on the laptop(i only have it because thats how i run the tune up on my LS chevelle) and typed in
www.google.com/ig
and it worked ok as a home page, so something in my desk top is blocking it-the reg google
works, just not the ig part of it
UM ,I'm not sure what you did by my free version removes what it finds when I click on he Show Results button and then the Remove Selected button.
