THe EFI sais I must use a cable. So for my 66, what cable do I need? Can I still use the stock pedal and arm linkage? Bit confused here.

Kevin? I think you did this on your car. If I dont have to get the pedal it would be nice.

Im running the pedal and cable from Lokar.

Im thinking you need a pedal thats made to run a cable. The Lokar set up is nice as it comes with everything you need and it bolts up to the stock location. You just need to mark and drill a small hole in the firewall for the cable to pass through.

I got the Lokar cable, and a stock pedal. Buy the cable, and see if you can mod the stock pedal, there is a way, I'm sure.

It would probably be better, if I used the lokar pedal, but I just threaded it thruogh the stock eyelet.

Dave,
You have a cable style throttle setup that was used only after 68.

Yea it uses a bellcrank with solid linkage.

I'm pretty sure you can use the stock pedal since both the Lokar pedal and stock pedal have an eyelet on them....the end of the cable sort of has a rounded bullet shaped head with a pin that goes through the eyelet. Was at the Schucks warehouse in Lakewood today with George and just so happened to look at them. Schucks has the cable and bracket for sale separately or in one package together but I didn't see the pedal setup on the shelf. $75 for the cable and bracket, $54 for just the cable. I think the pedal cost about as much as the bracket and cable did together....but it's a nice piece. I bought all 3 pieces together off eBay for less than Summit.

Brett,
I have always used the stock pedal with the Lokar cables ( used an aftermarket pedal a couple times but didn't like the way they nestle on the floor/firewall).... But there is a difference in the 66-67 Chevelle pedal assembly's.. I believe I had to modify my pedal on the 67 (made an adapter) because of it being a solid rod style... Shouldn't be too bad though.. [if at all]..........On most later years, the cable will work with little to no mods..

Would the pedal and cable from a Nova work? It works great on my 65 but with a carb. I am not sure if the efi requires something different or not.

No idea..

That pedal attaches to the floor via 2 ball studs as pivots.

Brett, the conversion from the nova is very cheap, simple and it works great. I am sure your pedal setup on the 66 is the same as a 65. You just need the pedal and firewall bracket from a 70's nova. Bolts right in place where the original was. Then just get a new throttle cable from GM for a nova ss, small block. Takes an hour to change over.

I guess look for a pedal setup from a nova on Ebay then?

Ok thx Jerry.

I think I'm going to try a rod first. They say it messes with the throttle position sensor on the EFI and you must use a cable. But the throttle arm feels very solid and I have some cool end heim links that I think I could make a nice rod with. I think this baby is going to run super smooth anyway. If it doest work, I'll change it. :beers:

Thats my thinking about it Greg,:D I could tell I'm smarter than the tech on the phone anyway. If done properly I think it should work fine.
