: AAA auto insurance too good to be true?

I just got an offer in the mail, they'll give me $20 if I get a quote. I gave it a shot, seeing as I had a suspicion that I wasn't getting the best rate at my current company.

Basically, right now I pay $814 for 6 months, full coverage on my 2004 Silverado, and liability only on my Focus. (chevelle will be thru Haggarty soon). AAA's quote for "equivalent" coverage on the Focus and truck was $456!

Is it too good to be true? Anything to be wary of as far as AAA auto insurance is concerned? Because if they are a stand-up company, their price is waaaaaay better than my current company, and I'll switch it ASAP. Care to share any experiences with AAA insurance?

Compare all the coverage specs,, if its truly apples to apples, then switch.

I've been with AAA for a very long time and have had no issues. I've even had at fault and not at fault accidents. So far so good and their pricing is good. I have my 66 on their classic car insurance, my home, rental and my daily drivers. Oh and the AAA club too, they're great for towing my Chevelle or Firebird when I need it.

They're good man.

Have you tried USAA?

I have all 3 cars, my motorcycle and only pay $657 a year. Only car not fully covered is the Chevelle. It was cheaper until I got a speeding ticket a week after getting the new Mustang last June and we added our 18 year old son on our policy. :(

I have had them since 1969. They are a good company,I also have there house insurance. Have had may claims and they work with you. My son had a house fire,he was so pleased how they handled the claim and fixed up his house so quick, he was glad he had them, and his neighbors house which caused the fire and burned to the ground, he was hassling his insurance a year latter

I have AAA auto and home owner's insurance. My auto rate is not as good as yours, probably due to higher rates here in CA. No complaints in the three years I've been with them. Several family members have been with them longer than I and they have no complaints. Most of my family have been AAA auto club members for decades. I don't hear much bad news about the organization. IMO a great company.

As a side note, my wife has worked with them for the last five years. I switched to AAA before I met her.

I forgot to add. My wife's grandmother has had AAA for years, well since I've known them. Almost 20 years now. My MIL was spending some time with us and she locked the keys in her car. She had everything in the car and called her Mom (my wife's grandma) in KY and got the Member Number (I guess that's what it's called) and even though my MIL name wasn't on the car, AAA STILL sent someone out to unlock the car for her. I'm not sure if that's the norm...but it was still  in my book.

Might have to look into that! Safeco is pretty good, but saving money is always cool.

I cannot comment on the rates but I did hear some praise of them recently. I was listening to a local car-repair oriented radio program and the host told of a survey of body shops done in AZ by some body shop trade group. Of 33 insurance companies rated by body shops, AAA came in first place and Progressive came in last. I can't remember where the other big names came in.

Thanks guys! That's what I hoped to hear!

Once they send me the contract and I have a chance to double check it, I think I'm signing up. With their lower rates, and Haggarty's lower rate for my chevelle, I'll save almost $1000 a year. I should have switched all my cars earlier :clonk:

Thanks again! :beers:

Move down south, much cheaper insurance here. I just got a quote on my new 2010 Camaro SS from State Farm, full coverage 352 bucks for 6 months. I switched both my Chevelles to Hagarty for 479 for a year full coverage including towing, best move I made for my classics

I've had AAA tow some family members cars a few times, and pop locks on friends' cars. I don't abuse the service, but they only verify membership, not whether the car is yours or not. I've even been able to get a 45 mile tow for no extra charge when I was supposed to only get 5 miles (I think) for free. I can say AAA is awesome and worth every penny for the regular membership, if their insurance is as good as that service I wouldn't think twice about signing up with them.

USAA is great Wally, but it's limited to certain individuals only:

Now, drop down and give me twenty-five, Marine! :D
