: Roll Call 14 AUG Bremerton

OK Gents, lots of you are going to Pacific for the weekend 14-16 AUG to run Pinks.
Some rumblings about rolling on over to Bremerton to get some runs/shakedown runs in.

I am scheduled off the 14th, but heading to Victoria, BC on one of those family outing things  the 15th...will miss ya fellas, have a great time, do good things at Pinks!

I'll be working on the Elky the next few days and my new "Master crewchief/fellow old guy" TOG says he'll be by Thurs the 13th...to ensure I've checked the block, dotted the Is and crossed the Ts. Oh, some of you SBC guys best be looking out for TOG...he's got a lil sumptin fer ya.

So...I'm IN for some racin' FRI 14th AUG.
Now that the Elky is somewhat fast....it is easier to catch Gofastitus.
This will be for joining the 12-second club, trying to best Rambos's old Elky's best 12.96 and gain the coveted Elky Rat Trophy, more beating down on Jahusafaucet, and giving ol Gotupandwent something to think about until his return.

Anybody gonna be there? Lookin for racers and camera operators, especially someone with a real video camera to record the outing.

This thread has me more than a little skeptical about going to Pinks.

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272927&highlight=pinks

I'm all for the big show and appeal of the pinks deal, but would I be some jaded if that is how it went down.

I just hope it's a positive experience, and doesn't leave me wishing I'd just gone to Bremerton and thrashed on the Punisher all weekend there, instead.

George,

Sounds good to me. Will probably be trailering/loading/unloading by myself, Tracy is gone to Orlando until the 16th.

John,

I read that thread you just posted, and I'm hoping it doesn't go down at Pacific like it did in Memphis.....but, I did make a comment about the show getting too big and having too many rules awhile back. It's not the racers who are making the event a circus, it's the ring leaders. Money does bad things when greed and arrogrance is involved:mad:.

I would be prepared for anything.

We'll see how the Nova is running tomorrow, but I'm supposed to be helping Ben out for Pinks. If something happens I'll be at Bremerton, but definitely planning on Pinks for sure.

I really hope SIR is better than Memphis from what I just read. Somebody needs to put that prick in his place real bad. That post is what you don't see on tv. They make it look all friendly competition and whatnot and everybody likes Rich...Yeah, he just looks like a douche.

I think the best insight on how PINKS runs would come from our very own MARTIN.

Cobalt,
Henceforth I am off THUR, FRI, SAT.

OK, need some help with your 'goodies' installations? Will bring some work clothes with me. Going to see a High School friend FRI. evening when he's playing softball in Sumner, otherwise no firm plans other than dog sitting for the next 2 weeks.

I have a few phonecalls to make, a few errands related to parts sales, some gearhead purchases, then I should be getting to it. Will call/txt ya....

Got everything done on The Cobalt?

As far as mechanically done, pretty sure I'm done for now....still have to pick up those metering block gaskets though. Probably do that in the morning with my pickup, then head up to Bonney Lake.

The episode when he crashed the street bike(not his bike even) without a helmet on defined it best....no class, no sense, all arrogance.

and just before he jumped on it he asks "is it fast?" Woodburn was non-televised, and IMO a low key affair, didn't see any arrogant attitude from him or his lil crew there, he even changed the straight back to burnouot box "rule" due to the 97* heat. When you have 460 + folks all wanting thier "15 seconds of fame" you will get a % of "what about me" going on, just keep an open mind and remember we are basically 'extras' for a T.V. show.

This is some sage advice my friends. After reading what happened to one of our fellow TCers at Memphis we would all be better off keeping this in mind. Its not drag racing its TV .

I had thought about just saying screw Pinks and going to Bremerton all together because of all the negative stuff I hear about the PINKS expierence. You'd think they'd treat the people who are making them rich a little better than that.

but then I think, "what if I made it on TV?"

well hopefully we are all real close in our parking spots so we can just chill in our own little pow wow out there and not worry too much about the dog and pony show... err i mean pinks

If you make it on TV, we'll all record it and watch it over and over trying to figure out if you windowed the block before or after you hit the second stage:D

The 3000 B&M went in last night.
Some road testing this afternoon.
Night and day difference......Elky picked-up a lotta attitude.
Seems the flash is at least 3500 (then belt noise)
Wonder what this will show for improvement at the track!?
Gotta get the deep lower pulley, maybe some upper pulley action going.

This AM, shows 30% showers FRI, better weather SAT and SUN.
Detailed weather, hour by hour for Bremerton ends at 6am FRI as of this writing.
At that time, still showing showers. Looks the same for KENT/Pacific Raceways too. Will re-look this tonight.

There may be a big wrench in my plans for this weekend, won't know more until tomorrow. Long story short, Grandpa is in the hospital with a brain tumor(causing memory loss, etc.) and another possible tumor in one lung, Cardiologist appt. tomorrow and a possible biopsy later tomorrow or Friday. Many factors at play here, good chance of fatal consequences....family went through this same thing in '97/'98 with Grandma, so it's not a new process for us. Depending on what happens and how things go, who knows if I'll be able to make it....

Thanks everyone, but not much to be done right now but wait. Plenty of family around here taking care of everything so far. Going to the hospital in the morning....and I don't like going to hospitals(unless I'm the one that's hurt/sick). The good news is that cancer insurance through AFLAC is current, and they're going through the rest of the file cabinet tonight checking the long term care situation that was set up years ago in the event that something like this might happen.

TOG n me were out testing the new stuff on the Elky this afternoon, got rained-on pretty hard. Sure hope today's afternoon "sprinkle" does not happen FRI. The belts and all stayed together during limited testing.

I'm gonna say "guarded optimism" at this time. The forecast is dubious at best, TOG will be watching Doppler Radar. In the morning will be installing my overflow and coming up with a 3/8", not J-hook, btty holddown and a few other odds and ends.

I'm confident with Chad's public weight removal program and mention of big fuel lines and pressure gauges and his numerous stealthy mystery packages he may have a viable contender.
But safety first before ya go pushing buttons.

I didn't go, didn't like the forecast plus all the trailer loading and unloading by myself to possibly get rained out. Decided to re-gap my plugs to .045 since reading the MSD manual the other day at George's about increasing the gap.....also cleaned the back window and re-adjusted the float levels since they were barely visible while low, weird since I hadn't touched them lately. Just a short drive and came back home.

No updates from George yet of what's going on there, but I did talk to Ray about Pacific and he says the weather doesn't look that great there either(Kent/Maple Valley area). Tomorrow definitely looks better.
