: Lower control arms

I'm trying to decide if I should box in my lower control arms. 99% of my driving will be on the street. From what I understand, the only time I'll really need the extra strength will be when I hook up at the track (with slicks).
Am I alright with just the SSM bars? I push about 500ft lbs across the board. I weigh ~3800 lbs. 2000 stall, TH700r4, 3:42 gears w/eaton posi, aftermarket springs all around, sway bars front and back, and poly bushings, kyb gas adjusts.
Any help would be appreciated. Right now I'm leaning towards not boxing them.

Every car that came with a factory rear sway bar had boxed control arms. Just food for thought.

How are you using a rear sway bar without boxed control arms? I think you need something to keep the stamped arms from collapsing. Just get some steel from Home Depot. You can get the correct width and cut the right length and have someone weld them in. I also cut a couple of pieces of steel pipe to weld in too. The sway bar bolts go thru the pipe as they pass thru the arm and this helps keep the arm from collapsing. Your choice, but you obviusly put some thought into your suspension and this is one of the easiest upgrades you can make.

I don't have factory sway bars, they are still in the box from PSC. I'm going to install them this weekend. Still waiting for the rear springs. LOL looks like I will be installing boxed arms, if what you say is true about the way they attach. Although I think they attach a little different on my 73 than the earlier models.
I just hope I didn't screw up by installing the exhaust first.

you did not screw up by putting the exhause up first it should be out of the way. how does your bar mount? if it mounts from the bottom and comes with c-channels that fit inside the control armsto support the bar and bolts in the c-arm then i dont think you need to box them, on the other hand any reinforcing you can do would help. once the bar is installed you could get the inner c-channels welded to the c-arm.
