Membership Upgrade Steps

Please read through the following to make sure that your upgrade to Lifetime membership can be accurately handled.

1) Please determine the amount to send:

- If you have a current 1-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days, you can upgrade to Lifetime for a single payment of $30.

- If you have a current multi-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days, you can upgrade to Lifetime for a single payment of $20.

- If you have a current Chevelle Gold membership, or it expired within the last 15 days, you can upgrade to Lifetime/Founding Member for a single payment of $20.

2) Use your Paypal account to send that amount to paypal@autoforums.com

3) Please be sure to include your Team site name (i.e.: Chevelles, Camaro, etc.), your online Username, your real name, city and state so that we can match you to the records.

Please post here if there are any questions or difficulties.

Thanks... Don

Sorry, that's geek humor...

I am limited to the so-called web-safe colors that show up the same in all browsers and operating systems.

There might be a red that's pretty close to that. I'll check.

Thanks for the sample!

For those revered Chevelle Gold members, you will be accorded "Founding Member" status to recognize your contribution during the early development of this forum. A special Founding Member tag will appear in your posts and other places. Your other privileges include those of a Lifetime member.

1. Will current Gold Members retain Gold color names or will they also be converted to red/orange/green/whatever that Lifetime Premium Members have?

2. My current Gold Membership (member since 1998) doesn't expire until June of 2010. Should I wait until next year or go ahead and update now. I see no real reason to wait if $20 will extend it to a lifetime membership; the Gold membership paid for the coming year is already gone - might as well update now. Right?

Actually, we were trying to minimize any confusion because there is a Gold Membership on Team Camaro, but it was not the same as the Gold membership here. After talking with a couple of Chevelle Gold members, we thought that the "founding" tag was a nice distinction for those that were around and supporting the site in the early days.

So are new members not eligible for the lifetime deal?

Mike
Aug 10th, 09, 9:25 PM
Doug ,read what you quoted.
Your eligible with a current 1-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days or current multi-year membership, or it expired within the last 15 days.
so even if you joined yesterday ,you fall under the current 1-year membership guideline.
These are for the paid memberships ,not the free ones.
Someone with no current paid membership would pay the $59.95

Unless you were one of first 201 Paying members Shannon, you're SOL. Even if you joined when the site first went up and did NOT pay, you'd be SOL as well. If any of the first 201 "paying" (now Gold) members ever decide to leave or pass on, their membership number or "place" will never be filled. Those are the rules as of today.

Many members signed on, but did not shell out the $$$$$, that's why you'll sometimes see a GOLD member who joined in 1998 with a TC member number such as 1000, and a Regular member who joined in 1997 with a member number of 857 for example. (I used arbitrary numbers here).

Perhaps if you paid when you first joined, there would have been some chance that you would have been lucky enough to become a Gold Member.

Well, I did have to wait about 41 years to meet the right woman and another 11 years to marry her, thus, in theory and IMO, you're right! :D :beers:

Funny thing though, John. I "copied" this: paypal@autoforums.com and "pasted" it into MY PayPal account, typed in $30.00 and clicked Send Money. I received a receipt for the transfer from PayPal that charged that $30.00 to my C/C that's on file, but I didn't encounter any problems as a few others did, e.g. "I was charged $59.95," "It wasn't accepted, etc.

I don't know about you, but when things go right for me sometimes, I become concerned. That transaction just went through way too smoothly. :D

Actually, the original cap was 200. I was on the phone with Al (discussing fundraising to help pay for bandwidth) for the site (and simultaneously registering as a Gold member.) Someone clocked in at 200, so Al gave me the final gold member 201.

To all Team Chevelle members:

The upgrade program described in this thread will be closed at the end of this year. At that time (midnight on January 1, 2010), the membership program will return to two simple choices, consisting of a $19.95 single year renewal, or a $59.95 Lifetime membership subscription.

If you are going to upgrade your membership before the program close, please read and follow the steps outlined at the beginning of this thread:

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284369

This is the ONLY way you can receive the special Lifetime upgrade rates!

Thanks... Don

Brian,
The lifetime UPGRADE uses a different procedure than the normal lifetime renewal, and is only good for a few more days. Follow the procedure in the first post of this thread and not the normal renewal procedure.

Edit: I'm just another member, but I've been through the process, so I thought I could help. It's a good deal!

Chris,
Just use Paypal to send money to someone. Send it to the address in the first post with the requested information about Team Chevelle. Here is a link for you to Paypal, Send Money.
https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=marketing_us/send_money

Quote from first post,

2) Use your Paypal account to send that amount to paypal@autoforums.com

3) Please be sure to include your Team site name (i.e.: Chevelles, Camaro, etc.), your online Username, your real name, city and state so that we can match you to the records.

Sent my payment in the other night and was upgraded by the morning. Was against this at first but I figured it was only 20 bucks to upgrade one time and done for good. Its worth it in the end if I can deal with members in the member classified and know that the majority of these guys are good guys to deal with and that alone made it worth the 20 dollars extra to me.
