: Emergency Flashers

I am having trouble getting my flashers (emergency) working. I am also working on my signal lights.

3 questions for your consideration.

Are the directional flashers and the emergency flashers activated by the same flasher module on a '72 Chevelle? I have the wiring diagrams from the manual but so farI only see the flasher up on the fuse box. Is there another separate flasher that runs the emergency flash function????

On the rear quarter panels there are "running lights / side lights"....are those lights supposed to flash when a right turn or left turn signal are made? The lights in the lower front fenders flash when a right / left turn signal is on but the rear lower quarter panel lights don't flash.

Last question. I assume that a bad bulb at any of the signal / emergency locations should NOT shut down the emergency flasher function or signal function.

Thanks for you help!!!!!

The turn signals and the emergency lights each have their own flasher..the side marker lights on the qtrs do not flash. I'm pretty sure the emergency lights still work even with a bulb burnt out.

Anything you can tell me about the location on that emergency flasher??? I need to find where the plug is in the harness.

I assume that you are saying that the side lights on the rear quarter panels do not flash but that the side lights in the lower front fenders do flash when the left / righ signals are on / operational?

Lastly is the flasher for the emergency ligts and the flasher for the signal lights the same part number? I seem to have an extra flasher on the floor and I think it is the same as the flasher that goes into the fues box.

No. The hazards are operated by a different flasher directly above the steering column.

The flasher for the emergency hazards is the one on the fuse panel.

The turn signal flasher is hanging on the wiring harness up under the dash.

Dean THANKS for a super answer from a "Super Mod"

I was dreading digging around behind that dash for the empty plug. I was wrong on several counts on this problem. First I thought that the flasher on the fuse box was installed and I thought it controlled the signals. That meant that the lack of Hazzard Flasher function was the result of the flasher in the harness being missing. AHHHHHHHH am I glad that I found the answer to this without digging around behind the dash.

Thanks to EVERYONE

Oman,..just out of curiosity you asked the question about a 72, but you made reference about lights in the bottom of the front fenders. Is this a 72 with 70 fenders?

Whoops Typo! I suppose your question is (was) leading to "can the fenders be swapped" from one year to another. Can't help ya there if that is where you were going. Just some "fat fingering" on my part.
